We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikita Fuss a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
As a body piercer covid has impacted my business tremendously in a very negative way all the way around! Less people have extra funds to spend on getting pierced and body modifications which impacts the supply order causing an influx in piercing cost just so I can still afford to provide for my family as well as maintaining quality products to pierce with as my income is 100% commission and tips!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been a body piercer for 5 years now and absolutely love what I do. I try to provide the best piercing experience possible to my clients from the moment they walk into the shop to the very end of their healing process! I do all piercings from basic and specialty to genitals and microdermals! Im always here to help my clients and go as far as providing my personal phone number with their aftercare so if they have questions or concerns during their healing process which in some cases could be up to a year they can always reach out and not have to worry or stress! I am constantly studying the ins and outs of everything piercing related to provide the best knowledge and best quality products so my clients have the best outcome and experience possible! When im not working I am a full time mommy to 3 amazing kids and 3 crazy dogs which motivates me and inspires me to be the best I can be!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of gaining new clients for me is word of mouth all though social media has a huge impact, social media doesnt have first hand experiences with me! If I provide good, quality services to current clients or walk-ins, they refer me to their friends and family! It truly means the world to me, as they keep me in business and with as many piercers in the local area for them to pick me makes me feel like I’m doing good and I’m succeeding in what I love to do!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped build my reputation the most is being knowledgeable, understanding and personable! I always treat my clients how I would want to be treated getting body modifications, even if it is only semi permanent! With personal experiences before I was a professional piercer I loved getting pierced but hated going to shops I always felt they were rude and in a rush or really didn’t care about anything but the money they were receiving from the service provided. I go above and beyond to provide as much knowledge answering absolutely any questions asked and addressing any concerns at all. I know that getting pierced can be scary and nerve racking so I do my best to make my clients as comfortable as possible by going over my process with them. I show them clean sterile equipment and walk them through what I do and how I do it every step of the way! We work together to execute what they had invisioned so they are satisfied, happy and at ease when they leave me to go home!
