Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devynn Lazechko. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Devynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Yes, I take vacations. I am encouraged to go and in fact am cut off from emails, phone calls and any thought of the business while I am away. In today’s America I feel this is a rare gift, between the mindset here in the U.S and the fact that with todays technology every vacation is a working vacation. That being said, as a creative, I am alway imagining and conjuring up the genesis of new ideas. A coworker once exclaimed to me, after being asked to take on a creative task herself: “How are you constantly creative every single day?!” Until then, this had never occurred to me. I never really am on vacation, simply because I do what I love, my career is who I am. I think Maya Angelou said it best “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” All forms of creativity feeds another. So, sketching on the beach, admiring a foreign structure, simply being exposed to a new culture breeds creativity in me that I carry until it surfaces for that sudden, oh so perfect derivation.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Twenty1Five is a custom furniture and fabrication shop that works in both residential and commercial environments. We build anything we can design from everyday furniture, to architectural structures, to kinetic features and beyond. We always come up with a way to do the impossible, every member of our team is a problem-solver first and the title they actually applied for second. There is never one mind on a project, the more we think out loud the further we go. Refinement is our greatest value, as the most alluring part of any project is in the details. This now booming and great business was all born in the wood shop of an exceptionally creative and talented middle school teacher that was determined to teach himself the ins and outs of the industry in order to construct each of his chalk on the floor drawings (we have a Design and CAD team for that now!)
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing my creations come to fruition, and watching as my clients beam in joy when their dream is developed before their very eyes. I love casting beauty into the world through collaboration with my fellow creatives and through teamwork with my skilled craftsman. As we exchange views, ideas, and inspiration we are able to achieve thrilling new levels of design and creativity.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our dedication to our clients. Here at Twenty1five we strive to create an interactive experience for our clients, listening and collaborating throughout the entire process. We believe in pure transparency and will always do our best to fix our wrongs. Integrity is our staple for one simple reason: we can only do what we do because of our clients.
