Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lynnmarie Wolverton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lynnmarie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think that success is very personal and has different meaning for every business owner. What I think works best on becoming successful in the Travel Industry, which has always helped me reach my goals, is showing my passion for what I do and showing my clients that I go above and beyond for them. You have to really be genuine and show that you care. Clients gravitate towards a friendly and passionate personality.
You also have to truly practice what you preach and master your skill. I have been specializing specifically in Disney Destinations for 10 years this year, and I am continuously learning so that I can better serve my clients and continue to be successful. This means constantly traveling myself multiple times a year to Disney Destinations, keeping up with my training, keeping up with the changes, trying out new restaurants, resorts, attractions, attending Agent Education Programs, and researching constantly. I also read books on customer service, sales, and do all that I can to remain successful.
At the end of the day I am in sales, but I have always treated my career as a customer service based career, have been true to who I am, and never fake it. I am a firm believer in “Learn it you’ll earn it” over “fake it till you make it”.
Lynnmarie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Disney has always been a part of my life. When I was a little girl my favorite Disney princess was, and still is to this day, Cinderella. Cinderella’s courage and determination to never stop believing in her dreams has always been inspiring to me. I am a dreamer myself and love to knew that I would love to make vacation dreams become a reality for my clients.
In 2013 I followed my dream and became a Travel Advisor to specifically specialize in Disney Destinations. I grew my clientele pretty quickly and by 2015 I was doing this more than full time. When the Pandemic hit in 2020, that created a pause in the travel industry and gave me time to reevaluate my business. I decided to turn something negative into a positive situation and took a leap of faith and opened my own Travel Agency, Alluring Enchantments Travel in July of 2020. I already had my clientele established and was very busy, so the pause in the industry gave me the time I needed to open my own agency. I built a team of 5 Travel Advisors, including myself, trained them to be the best they could be and because of that we became Earmarked by Disney Destinations this year! That basically means that Disney Destinations recognizes Alluring Enchantments travel as an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. It’s a very prestigious honor for an agency to become Earmarked.
The most rewarding aspect of helping my clients is being able to see and hear all about the vacation memories they experience. I play a role in a little girl meeting her favorite Disney princess..a little boy meeting his favorite Star Wars character..a milestone birthday celebration..a proposal..an anniversary..a surprise trip..a once in a lifetime trip..a family reunion..and someone experiencing the magic for the first time. It is such an honor to be a part of all of those special vacation moments.
What I am most proud of is that I built my brand around making my clients feel the love that I have for them and what I do. I truly appreciate them and the relationships I build with them. What I do is so special and rewarding to me. I am always honored and feel so blessed to know that my clients choose me to be an important role in helping them create long lasting Disney Vacation memories. Client satisfaction has always been the magic behind the referrals that built my clientele. I always strive to go above and beyond for my clients and treat them like royalty.
When clients work with myself and my team members we assist them in all aspects of planning a Disney vacation. We consult with them from the start and put together a vacation package that best suits their needs. We are there for them throughout the entire planning process and assist with planning their park itinerary, booking their dining reservations, answering questions, and most importantly, we save them time and stress.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
This is going to sound crazy, but I have never paid for marketing or advertising! I truly build my clientele from my social media presence, and going above and beyond for my clients. Word of mouth and referrals is how I built an amazing clientele. That is the secret! People always ask “how” I do it and what my ‘secret” is. I truly don’t have a secret. I am just myself, I am confident in what I do, and I present my natural self and passion on social media. I will say, though, that in the travel industry, you have to stand out! You can’t be a follower. You have to show that you are a leader and grow your brand authentically. If you come across as fake and phony, your potential clients will see right through you. I just have fun every single day sharing my passion for what I do and clients love to see that!
You have to go for it and don’t hold back! Share your passion, show you know your stuff, show your confidence, and people will trust you enough to want to book their vacations with you. I have clients all over the World, all over United States, and it’s truly because of my social media presence and word of mouth from my clients referring me.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I say this for every Travel Advisor in the business. Those of us who were in this industry during the Pandemic had to be more than resilient. It was beyond tough! We all lost so much money, so much time wasted we spent on planning trips as each one was cancelled was a hard pill to swallow. The worst part was having some of our clients once in a lifetime trips be cancelled. Clients who had special birthday, anniversary trips, and personal celebration type trips. Disney vacations are all about the memories you create, so a lot of clients lost that and didn’t get that chance to go on that dream trip. At the time, we had no idea when travel would bounce back. It was a scary time for everyone, and for all small business owners. Two weeks turned into months of unknowns. Of course most clients did get to take their special trips eventually, but at the time it was still upsetting for them
I truly didn’t even know if I wanted to remain in the Travel Industry. It was a very stressful time that I am sure a lot of us have PTSD from. To give you an example, I personally spent 12 plus hours just to wait on hold on the phone multiple days once Disney World reopened trying to postpone canceled trips. Which most of those trips ended up being postponed again due to the waves of new strands of the virus. It was not until 2022 that all of our clients who postponed could travel and everyone felt comfortable traveling again. It was just a very scary time that I hope nobody has to deal with ever again. Any business owner who made it through 2020 is the definition of resilience.
