J’Quan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?

My parents are my biggest supporters. I was always taught to never give up on your dreams. My family is my biggest critics, and I appreciate each and everyone of them.

Exquisite Treats by Jay LLC based in Charlotte, NC was established in 2017. Owned and operated by J’Quan Robinson who was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC. J’Quan comes from a big family who loves to cook and fostered his passion for cooking. Starting at the tender age of 8, J’Quan has been perfecting his craft of cooking and baking. Exquisite Treats by Jay specializes in comfort food and baked goods through catering and private dinners..

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

When I first started my business. It was just a side hustle. I was fresh out of high school, and I was only selling baked goods. In 2020, I decided I wanted to expand my business. So I did, that’s when I started catering for parties,,weddings, private dinings, and many more.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

One thing I had to learn in this industry social media is your best friend. Anytime you are creating a new dish take the time to take a picture or video. Also, don’t be afraid to network.
