Khristee , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I started acting professionally about 7 months ago. As an actor you have to train continuously. Audition technique classes, script analysis, character development and many many more. Acting is not a race. It’s a marathon. If you train, be consistent, and stay committed you’ll succeed. The skill I think are most essential to Acting is learning who you are as an actor. Once you learn who you are, you can bring truth to every character. Obstacles are in evitable. Dedication and drive will hurdle any obstacle.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am known for my comedic skits on social Media where I have a following of 250+thousand followers and over 30 millions content views. Acting has always been a dream. I decided to turn my dream into my reality. I think what sets me apart from others is I am dedicated. I am committed. I have a drive so strong nothing can stop me. I am most proud of all the accomplishments. I have achieved in the last seven months.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
In acting you hear the word “No”a lot. I had to realize that “No’s just means that’s not the right fit or role for me. I had to learn the rejection isn’t personal. However, It’s easy to feel that way, like you weren’t a good enough actor, or because that Casting Director just didn’t like you as a person. You have to focus on the work not on the outcome. Focus on what you do have control over, and forget the rest.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, Definitely. I think every actor should have a tangible goal. It’s about understanding who you are and gives you a really great foundation before you start setting goals. Being an actor is already difficult enough but to not have a clear goal makes it almost impossible. You have to be specific to you and your priorities. I can personally say that goal setting has saved me. Without specificity you will not succeed. It will just be a dream.
