We were lucky to catch up with Mark McNally recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
With our invention of the plastic reusable filter frame here at Filters Direct USA, we completely changed the way homeowners replace their home air filters and reduce waste on our environment at the same time. Our filter subscription model ensures that customers never forget to replace their air filters as we ship the replacement filters, right when it’s time to change them. We have made big changes to improve the indoor air quality and health of all of our customers.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Having immigrated from Ireland to North Carolina in 2007 I’ve come a long way since arriving without a job in America. I worked hard and progressed through to ownership of a local commercial HVAC/Refrigeration company called FSI Mechanical. In 2020 while business owners like myself had time on our hands to be creative and think outside the box. My business partner Tim Hobbs and myself invented a new way to use home air filters with our plastic reusable filter frame which utilizes our antimicrobial filter media. We now ship our filters to home owners all across the USA as a subscription so customers never forget to replace their filters on time and improve their indoor air quality and overall health. We managed to keep our product at an affordable rate of $12 per/filter for any size and always includes Free Shipping.
Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
After working for a commercial HVAC/Refrigeration company for almost 10 years, I worked my way up through the ranks from a simple filter service technician to business manager and then purchased the company with my business partner Tim in 2019. We agreed on an owner finance deal to purchase the company from the previous ownership who we had worked for over many years. We began the necessary changes needed to improve the business and make it a huge success.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My co-owner and business partner Tim Hobbs joined our commercial company FSI Mechanical to introduce the refrigeration aspect of our services. Immediately Tim and I struck up a great working relationship and personal friendship. To this day I see him as a major influencer in my career and success. Tim and I have now successfully launched our second company, Filters Direct USA together as co-owners and seeing our new company grow is amazing. We are proud to say we now ship our home air filters to homes in multiple states all across the USA and growing every week. Our products are 100% made in America which we are very proud of.
