We recently connected with Rayana White and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rayana , thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I graduated from CSUN in 2017 with my BS in Health Administration and worked in corporate for about 5 years. I switched departments in the hospital many times in attempt to stay happy, but nothing was working because my passion was not being ignited. In 2021, I was feeling very unfulfilled and stagnant in my career, so I quit my job. After I quit my job, I took a break to find myself again. During this process, I decided to take certification courses so that I could turn my passion into a professional career. II am so proud of myself for taking that leap of faith! A year later and I am successfully running my own business, meeting amazing women and helping them heal.
Running my business has had its ups and downs, but through it all I keep faith and never give up. As an entrepreneur, I would say the hardest part of the journey was actually being courageous enough to start. I sat on my idea for a long time because I was worried about being perfect and concerned about whether or not I would gain clientele. I was able to get over these daunting thoughts by just going for it. I thought “God gave me the business idea, he’ll give me the clients!”
There are some weeks where I have 0 clients, and some weeks where I am booked everyday. Throughout this process my faith has definitely increased and I have learned how to push through when circumstances seem discouraging. Things may not always go the way you planned the fist or second time, but you sure do have the intelligence to course correct.
Another challenge I have faced is deciphering how to capture and educate my target audience. I have also had to navigate finding a balance between being credible and professional while still engaging people on social media platforms. Creativity, consistency and being my passionate self has grown grown my social media account and business rapidly. I started with 0 clients and a year later I have over 120 lovely ladies and I am beyond excited for expansion. My social media platform and business has grown rapidly by word of mouth and I now have women who are out of state but interested in my services and products. I am currently working on adding products to my website so that women can start their healing journeys internationally.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Rayana and I service women in Los Angeles. I take great pride in healing women’s reproductive issues hollistically. As a Doula, Yoni Steam Practitioner and Herbalist, I feel honored to be able to share my expertise with women in my community. I hold a passion for holistic healing, and supporting and advocating for women’s reproductive health and wellness journey. My commitment is to be there through the journey: from maintenance, to preparing to conceive, sustaining pregnancy, creating the desired birth experience and assisting in recovering and transitioning into parenthood during postpartum.
My drive to educate and heal women naturally derived from my personal experience of trying to navigate through a diagnosis while feeling unheard and unseen by medical professionals. As a result of this experience, I knew that I wanted to provide the support for others that I didn’t have. I just didn’t know how to turn it into a career. Fast forward to 2023! I have took the leap of faith and have been running my business for a year.
I specialize in healing and supporting women on their reproductive and wellness journeys. I wear many different hats. I show up as a doula and aspire to dismantle the fear associated with giving birth, educate and support my clients and help them have their ideal birth. The maternal mortality rate for black women are 3-4 times higher than counterparts and I am doing my part to serve and advocate for my community. I offer educational, physical and emotional support throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum recovery journey.
I am also known as a Yoni Steam Practitioner. A Yoni Steam is a soothing treatment that provides healing and cleansing for the female reproductive system using the warmth of specific herbs that have been steamed. The healing properties of the herbs can assist with things such as a painful or absent periods, healing after giving birth, increasing fertility and much more. I incorporate my love and knowledge of herbs into this practice. Knowing the properties of herbs allows me to effectively devise treatment plans for reproductive issues.
I am most proud of the positive birth outcomes my clients have had. It is very fulfilling to know that I made a difference and supported a family through such a vulnerable transition. I am also proud that I have facilitated healing to multiple women’s wombs after they were told that they couldn’t get pregnant or would need surgery to remove a fibroid or would never get a period without medication or would have to deal with painful cycles for the rest of their lives. Client testimonials and having clients trust me with their health brings my heart so much joy.
I believe my personal experience, my passion and ability to operate with integrity is what sets me apart from others. I was once the young girl, the woman who was unheard and unseen with a reproductive issue. I now look at my own experience as my purpose. Without this experience, I would not be as passionate as I am today about healing and advocating for women’s reproductive health. When I meet all these women, hear their stories and connect with them, I don’t even feel like I am “working”. It feels amazing! I could care less about the money, What really excites me is knowing that I can make a positive change in someone’s life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been networking and putting myself out there. I often put myself in places and businesses that are densely populated by my target market, women. I start conversations and pass out business cards in places like nail shops, hair salons, wax parlors etc.
Another strategy that has been very effective is being my authentic personable and friendly self. Each time I get a new follower on social media, I make sure I send a personalized message to introduce myself. This forms a memorable connection and initiates a relationship. Engaging and bonding with women through relatable experiences on social media has also helped grow my clientele.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe a genuine passion and having your client’s best interest at heart is what leads to success. I aim to create a safe space for women to talk to me, whether its in person or virtual. Being personable and compassionate always leads to great experiences and plenty of word of mouth referrals. My goal is to create meaningful connections with all my clients, build trust and facilitate healing and support. Operating with integrity and being true to your mission and values also leads to success.
