We recently connected with Jon Meggison and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I took was pursuing to be an actor. Early in 2019 I decided I wanted to try out modeling and when Covid became a thing there is no modeling jobs. So I decided that I wanted to try out acting I had no experience, I didn’t take any classes because everything was shut down so I was teaching myself everything. From selftape’s to how to audition, to learn the business side of things in the industry as a whole. Learning how to do monologues, and to break down scenes, everything was self taught. Then 2019, I took the biggest risk of my life. I took a flight to Los Angeles, and went to a showcase for actors to perform in front of the industries best agents and managers. And when I say I took a risk, I flew there with a suitcase, a couple, head, shots, résumé, and a few dollars in my wallet I didn’t even know where I was going to stay at the time. I had no experience and have never performed anything in front of anyone before. I went there, not knowing what was gonna happen, but I just knew I had to do it. When I attended the showcase and performed, I had zero callbacks from agents. That could’ve been a moment of me quitting, but instead, I use that as fuel and I was determined to make this work. Fast for three years later, and this is where I am.

Jon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jon Meggison I am an actor in TV in film. I started my career as an actor January 2020 in my first year of the industry I studied a lot, I read a lot of books and spent a lot of time in my bathroom performing monologues in the mirror and scenes. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the business side of the industry. I disciplined and dedicated 2 to 3 hours a day in my bathroom, working on monologues and scenes, trying to figure out how to audition. I bought my first role March 14, 2020 short film. At the end of 2020 in my first year, I ended up with 11 short films under my belt. At the beginning of 2021 I booked my first lead in a feature film which is called a Haunting in RavenWood which can be streamed on Tubi and Prime Video. After I filmed that everything seemed to take off later in 2021 I booked a role in a feature film that starred academy nominated actor Eric Roberts. At this point I felt things are really starting to click and everything started to make sense. I did a film called it takes talent which I ended up winning best lead actor award. At the end of 2021 that was my biggest year of my career I started getting recognition and being published in magazine articles, and newspaper articles. I think the thing that separates me from others is my resilience, my work ethic, and most importantly, patience. This industry takes years of work and it takes patience is a lot of people don’t have, a lot of people want instant success with this industry be an actor is the long game and I’m willing to put in the work and wait for what I deserve. And think I would say that I’m most proud of is just me being able to do what I do and be a working actor and do this as a career so I wouldn’t say that there’s anything specific I’m proud of, I’m just proud of all the success I’ve seen so far in the short time of my career.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, my specific goal mission this year is to be a series regular in the TV series

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would say the most rewarding aspect of being an actor is just being recognized for the work you’ve been putting in
