We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sasha Rose . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sasha below.
Sasha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
You would think that being a wardrobe/fashion stylist and working with physical items such as clothes, shoes and accessories it would be easier to do in person right? Well the pandemic certainly forced me to broaden my ways of doing business and interacting with new or existing clients especially during quarantine Year. Fortunately, for the type of art that I create as far as styling I’m able to articulate my ideas better with using visuals. Whether it’s from showing examples, curating mood boards, curating outfit ideas using an app software or just simply re-creating a look… it’s all done visually. So I’ve made it a part of my brand to provide these visuals remotely either via email or direct text to my client. I find that it’s easier to stay organized, it’s easier to keep track of the things my clients either love or hate. So essentially after I got the hang of creating these virtual experiences it became second nature to continue executing my clients vision using remote type of apps and softwares. Everything down to scheduling & consultation is done remotely as of lately.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Certainly, I am a self taught fashion stylist, personal shopper, creative director amongst other things. I started categorizing my art as fashion styling in 2017-2018. I was my own model, I curated my own looks, set designs, and sourced locations that were outdoor for street style type of branding for my first portfolio.
I attended and graduated from “The Misa Hylton Fashion Academy” studying fashion 101-103 in NYC.
To date that was the best decision I’ve made in my career. It has opened so many other doors for so many other avenues in fashion.
Initially I was set on catering to the plus size community, for obvious reasons of the lack of style in our community. However, now I’m much more inclusive with the body types that I work with.
I love to make people feel confident in themselves! To love what they have on! To be comfortable in their skin!
So this is much deeper to me than just “putting outfits together” as some people may consider it.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’m still actively growing my social accounts. I’ve learned myself that staying consistent and posting content for your targeted audience is key. It’s easier said than done of course especially if you factor in having children, a full time job not related to your career path of choice etc etc. So it’s important to plan your content days out and get enough footage that will cover you for 2-3 posts.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Being yourself! Staying true to your clients personal style, your clients vision and doing it in a timely manner. Once you establish a healthy working relationship.. word of mouth, content to re-post, tags etc will absolutely make your clientele expand. If msg not happen overnight, but stay consistent… IT WILL HAPPEN!
