We were lucky to catch up with Sean Patrick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Last year I released my second EP titled ‘Few & Far Between’ which was a huge step for me. This project came at a crucial time in my life and music career where I was going through a lot of trials and tribulations as an independent artist trying to break into the industry. This project also holds some of my best and most personal music. Getting the opportunity to work with an artist like Ne-Yo on the single ‘More Than A Weekend’ gave me a taste of what mainstream pop/r&b music success looks like. On top of that I was able to deliver some of my favorite rap moments on this project on songs like ‘Magic’ and ‘Happening Now’ Off the momentum of this project I’ve been able to expand my audience and officially set to go on tour at the beginning of April. Looking forward to what the future holds and following up ‘Few & Far Between’ with my third and final installment in my EP trilogy where I’ll push myself even further in the creative process, perseverance, and crafting an even better project this year!

Sean, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I go by the name Sean Patrick, I started making music between middle school- high school and ultimately decided it was what I wanted to do when I graduated. I was a member of my schools drum-line which was one of the places I developed my rhythmic skill and understanding of music. I later went on to receive my degree in music technology which has really helped in my music creation process. From this I’ve been able to efficiently deliver high quality music as well as music video releases and have built up myself and my brand to be one of the most notable in my city. I was never given any of my accomplishments I had to work for every single one, and that’s probably what I would say I’m most proud of, my work ethic has always been something that has stood out to me. The desire to improve, and even the inability to sleep until something I’m working on is done. I’d say what probably sets me apart from the rest is who I am personally and how that authenticity translates into my music. I know there’s so many people trying to amount to something in this industry. With that naturally comes over saturation in the market as well as what can feel like a blurred canvass of music sounds and trends. Every time I’m creating a song I always make a conscious decision to include a part of myself in the writing, melody, cadence, and production. I believe I’ve truly developed a core sound while still being able to transition from rapping and singing on records. I’m ready to develop and improve this sound even further with my future releases.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, I would have to say the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having the platform to share something meaningful with people. Life is a difficult journey for everyone in different ways, I think music is a universal language that can be used to translate emotions we all feel and create inspiration we all need sometimes.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A goal that always comes to mind when I think long term on this creative journey is finding happiness and purpose not only for my self but also the people I care about as well as anyone that listens to my music. One of the best compliments I’ve received was from someone telling me my music helped them through a particular hard time in their life. I touch on a lot of different topics in music between the higher confidence rap records or the softer more melodic records. At its core my music is telling my story and the moments throughout life of success and failure, I know reaching higher in this industry will bring more of both but if I could walk away from all of this happy and feeling like I’ve changed peoples lives for the better I’d say that’s a significant goal accomplished.
