As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Yes, I think it is so important for my mental health and the health of my family to vacation. I don’t think vacation has to mean “elaborate or expensive” but more, “rest, recharge and relax”. Working in an industry where I get to travel around the country regularly is kind of like taking work vacations all of the time. Most work days, I try to spend some of my free time exploring the city/town I’m in. Honestly, that’s one of the best things about touring in the music industry. This is a tricky question for me to answer because I use my brain to come up with new ideas and creative solutions and that’s exactly the part of me that never stops, therefore taking vacations is hard. I feel like any time I plan to take time off, I recharge in a couple days and then really want to just go straight back to my passion of writing, creating and living all kinds of art forms.
