Hi Amanda K. , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy will be a beacon for those who need a little extra love and compassion! Like so many I’ve faced hard time, times I felt so incredibly alone and in the dark; when people hear my name I want it to invoke a positive feeling and remind them that someone is always in their corner. I also want to leave behind a legacy of light and love, something that my kids can be proud of. I want them to know that even under some of the worst conditions, something can grow. Regardless of what my kids decide to do with their lives I want them to carry on the tradition of being a light for others in the dark. It’s important to me as well that whatever I leave behind in this world is something I can be proud of!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am an intuitive healer and an artist. My business Miss Kay’s Mystics was started in July of 2021 and at that time I was doing readings with Tarot cards only. Now I not only use Tarot cards, I also use a variety of Oracle cards and crystals with my readings! I offer psychic card readings over a variety of topics such as, relationships, careers, finding a lost item and general life. I also create, design and offer custom reading spreads. There are hundreds of different reading options and styles, interpretations and meanings, and “rules.” I put rules in quotes because there are no rules (except to harm none) and that’s one of the things that sets me apart: there are no rules. I take an approach to my readings that allows for flexibility. A reading spread doesn’t HAVE to be in a specific order, to do a reading you don’t even have to do a spread. Cards can be pulled at random to offer a little bit of knowledge for the person receiving the reading. I came upon my intuitive gifts by a fated accident. I grew up in a fairly conservative family that didn’t really understand differences, believe in psychics/metaphysical arts, and didn’t encourage artists. I knew from a young age that I was different and because of my environment I stifled those gifts. Once I made the choice to start being myself, my gifts exploded! I found myself in a metaphysical shop, I saw a Tarot deck that I liked and bought it. At the time I bought it, I didn’t even realize that I was a gifted medium, I was just always drawn to and interested in Tarot cards. After I got that first deck, my life completely changed and I decided that I wanted to become an intuitive healer. Not only do I use the cards and crystals, I also channel messages from spirit guides without the use of the cards. I am still learning and growing but I hope to introduce that as an option to my business here soon! Another craft I’m learning to work with is Runework; like with Tarot I’ve always felt drawn to Runes. As an artist I am in the process of writing a poetry book and a novel. I grew up and to this day still read books every day and I hope to touch the hearts of as many people as I can with my words! I am in the process of designing two different Tarot card decks, one being nature centered that will incorporate Runes in it as well and the other being centered around a specific band (that’s a secret for now!). In addition to that I also create and sell custom handmade drawstring bags for things such as card decks, books, laptops, and so much more! I want my Clients and Customers to know that they are safe and welcome at Miss Kay’s Mystics. The main takeaway is that they leave with a sense of hope, light and love.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new Clients for me has been networking and partnering with other businesses! Especially on various social media platforms! Hosting events at a local shop, vendor events and sharing on social media has really been pivotal in growing my business. When a business hosts, creates an event on social media and advertises in person by word of mouth or with fliers it greatly helps. Even if a potential Client only take away my name, the business name or a card at least they’ve heard of me and that could bring in potential clients at a later time! Fortunately, my experience with different vendor groups or individuals has been really wonderful! And vendors, small businesses stick and work together. Sharing a small business’ post helps potentially get customers who may not even have been aware of them in the first place. A lot of vendors/small businesses will trade shares, so if they share something of mine I always try to share something of theirs!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I would say what has helped my reputation the most is my authenticity. I show up as myself no matter what. I like to share little bits of my own story when someone has a particularly intense reading, that way they don’t feel overwhelmed or alone. Remember: there’s no such thing as a bad reading! I incorporate my sense of humor and easy-going nature into Client communications. Being real with someone gives them a safe space to be themselves too. Just being nice, appreciative and firm (when it’s called for) is how I approach any kind of business interactions!
Another thing that I believe has helped my reputation is being consistent. No matter what show up or communicate it with the proper people if you can’t. We’re all humans and sometimes things happen, so if you’re consistent in communicating with others that really helps. Consistently posting on social media or following up with Clients is really big for me and I believe that has helped me tremendously. Being honest, humble and kind no matter what is a big thing.
