We were lucky to catch up with Kenzie Mammeli recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kenzie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope for my legacy to be that I left every client and professional that I’ve worked with feeling like a queen. I want to empower every client to feel a new confidence that will help them reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives. I also especially want to encourage young new artist in our industry that they can carve out their own space in this field. That they can make it, no matter where they came from, that they too can build a beautiful clientele base that they can represent with their own unique style and flair.

Kenzie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the hair and beauty industry because I absolutely love the feeling of confidence and power that I can give women with a new style. I studied under one of the top rated extension salons for several years to learn as much as I could to improve the experience that I can give to each one of my clients. My main services include extensions and lifestyle color. I also focus on the over all aesthetic and look that my client is looking to achieve. I have the benefit of having a lot of knowledge and experience with several different extension methods and companies. I go above and beyond to stay up to date on my education with top rated brands to make sure I have to the best solutions for each one of my clients needs.
I have what I like to call my “open door” policy for new clients, (even if they aren’t mine) to come in ask me questions to widen their understanding of extensions and the benefits that they can provide. I like to make sure that everyone has all the best information that they can to make an informed decision about potential services they are going to receive.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
My hardest lesson that I had to unlearn as a young stylist was that I do not know everything! I really had to learn to open myself up to criticism and different ways to do things. Learning new and innovative things is so important. Now as the industry grows and changes, so do I.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The most impactful resources that I have been exposed to are Inspiring Champions Strategies Program, and Ashley Diana Unapologetic. Inspiring Champions taught me how to be a business professional and Ashley Diana taught me to do that without forgetting who I was.
Both resources were invaluable to building Kenzie Nicole Hair.
