We recently connected with Nekhbet Nurta-t Ra and have shared our conversation below.
Nekhbet , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mother was a single parent and there are two things she has done right. First thing she did was allow me space to understand myself while parenting me with boundaries as to not harm myself in the process with a strict hand most of the time. The era I grew up in she used what she knew. The second thing she is doing now, and that is addressing herself and her life in order to create a wider road for me to walk my path, without carrying her burdens.
My mother has always instilled confidence in me she would always say to me “you better like you, love you, long enough to be with you”. Naturally I didn’t take that in at that naive age of life, but now I interpret that as I need to be a container for my full self. No matter how that shows up in the moment.
My father was not much in my life but despite that space, in my present I am learning that I don’t have to hold his story as my own.
Both of my parents actually have taught me that. I have complete autonomy over my purpose in life, and can take away the important aspects from the core beliefs given to me as a child as well as leave the ones behind that don’t support the tone of core beliefs I have created for myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I came about my practices from a personal need of stepping into my own healing journey and spiritual walk. I started out looking for other individuals who wanted to talk about spirit and energy without the stoic and vacant “uh huh”. My intentions have always been to create a supportive environment for individuals to come together to have these discussions . Back in 2012 and prior everything was underground so it wasn’t as easy to find those individuals as a hashtag or google search is now. We had to dig. I also wanted to create a space that was diverse but also represented the presence of brown and black faces. This is still my foundation. I had it in my mind that I wanted to help others help themselves without the dependency of pharmaceuticals, etc. but I wasn’t sure how that would come about until my certification in Usui Reiki, reiki shares in my apartment and sharing Thai Massage at holistic fairs.
I am a reality based spiritualist and healer. That means that I believe in creating applicable tools for integrating the individual’s spirit, mind and body based off of their own frequency. I am an initiated priestess, that translates in how I use principle to support the individuals approach to their healing journey in tandem with my training.
My business is simply a container for the work. The work is the growth that comes from the service.
For those working with me, know that the process is yours and I am simply here as a guide and a resource to assist you in how you filter that process. We all have a right to be soft while we figure out our path to authenticity.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Presence is the most effective strategy that works for me. I find that this provides people to connect with you in a more tangible way. Your potential clients can get a better sense of your energy when you are in front of them.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The most helpful tip I could provide anyone with an inkling of starting their own business is that training only sharpens the intuitive knowledge you already have. You should trust yourself fully to recognize that you are already a master of your craft, training just opens up that memory.
