Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Natasha Mosby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Natasha , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
March 2020, Governor Sisolak announced closing of Nevada schools and businesses, social distancing and stay at home directives to keep Nevadans safe in the wake of COVID-19. At the time of the announcement, I was heading to my office to see clients for therapy sessions and my phone began ringing excessively. From “What does this mean, Natasha? What about my sessions? to “I can’t be alone Ms. Tasha! I am going to be lonely.” It was at that moment I knew I had to rethink my private practice business model but wasn’t sure what or how to do it.
The pandemic had an enormous effect on so many communities and it shifted my ideas on how to provide services. I didn’t have enough hours in the day to accommodate new referrals & still maintain my mental health and all the other roles in my life.
And then this happened….
I had a dream about my mother. I remember feeling emotional and so happy to see her (she passed away from breast cancer a few years ago & she was my best friend) She touched my back and said, “Look at what you did. I’m so proud of you baby” and then she disappeared.
I jumped up from that dream, scared the heck of my husband & said, “That’s it! I’ll rebrand my business (private practice) and add community wellness services. I’ll collaborate with different providers and do monthly events in the community!”
Since that dream in 2020, I rebranded my private practice therapy business and Health, Wellness and Integrated Care was born. I created, organized and hosted the first Black Men’s Health and Wellness Conference in the state of Nevada and received a Proclamation from the City of Las Vegas. I created Leave it on the Mat, mental health meets physical health monthly yoga and mental health workshop addressing women’s health and wellness. I created and hosted children and family mental health workshops as well as provided multiple trainings and mental wellness events addressing 8-Dimenstions of Wellness. I’ve been interviewed by radio stations and newspapers to speak on my Integrated healthcare approach to meet mental health needs from a macro and mezzo lens.
My business model and approach to addressing wellness for men, women, children and families are unique to our Vegas community in October 2022, I was granted the title of CLINICAL EXPERT by UNLV where I am also a lecturer in the Social Work Department.

As a therapist I have learned every client is unique in their experiences. Their sense of themselves, their outlook on life, needs and expectations are individualized and no single method or theory is helpful to everyone. I approach each client and session with an open mind, and self awareness while exploring with the client what was, what is, and what can be.
Integrating the 8 Dimensions of Wellness Model with emphasis on the mind, body and spirit connection, clients will begin to process, explore and gain insight and skills needed to address challenges in their lives.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
“SPEAK. Use your voice and take up space!” I moved from Mississippi to Las Vegas at the age of 10. The move was a cultural shock and adjusting created insecurity, shame, sadness and anxiousness. I was severely teased by my peers due to my southern accent and my choice of clothing. The teasing was so bad that I stopped speaking at school and didn’t participate in class discussions and activities. On one occasion, I brought my lunch to school and in front of the entire class, my teacher grabbed her nose and said, “Gross, what is that smell?” It was my traditional southern dishes I had enjoyed since I could remember. Food I had loved and had beautiful memories while living in Mississippi with my grandmother, great-grandmother, mom, dad, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends BUT for the first time I was ashamed and felt lonely and unloved. I ate my lunch at the back of classroom while students pointed and asked some of the most offensive and hurtful questions.
For years following, I hated the sound of my southern voice and cultural foods. I had to unlearn those negative messages and tap inwards to voices of love, acceptance and affirmation from my mother, great grandmother and family members who passed away and were no longer with me. I had to embrace my southern accent, speak without shame, eat my southern dishes without embarrassment, and sit at tables that I was told I never be invited too with confidence. I learn to SPEAK, EAT and TAKE UP SPACE!
Have you ever had to pivot?
This question is directly related to first question with my desire to rebrand my practice in 2020.
