We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyrone Ferby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tyrone, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mom Raise me to be a understanding, respectful man
Tyrone, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born and raised in Memphis Tennessee, been doing music since I was 12 I always used to beat on the dish. when I was in school went to school with Don Trip . I have been illegal situations that were pretty much set you back from doing music, but I have took the initiative. To understand my whole purpose of being on this earth i I go by name Loc Sleepy the meaning of the name Love. Only.. Christ.. so. Love. Each and every. Person y’all .loc sleepy I have three albums out stay focus 1&2&3 on all platforms you also can Google me loc sleepy on YouTube I am building a foundation with my cousin MYSTRO pop born and raised in North Memphis was no other way out, but to focus on the mission music is my passion
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That everybody is not down for you they might be with you, but they’re not down for you, so I had to learn to not pay attention to those peoples. They have no direction no sense of humor, and no understanding.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pretty much it takes money to make money. A lot of peoples like to do music, but a lot of people do not like to invest money into they self so I had to separate myself from those people’s.
