We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Athena Fisher a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Athena thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
I recently am back to planning vacations. Covid put a halt to vacations I had planned. Majority of my vacations are planned around my son. For his birthday in October I took him to Jellystone in Burleson. Next month for his Spring Break I’ll be taking him to a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. I’m planning a trip with my boyfriend in June to go to Vegas.

My name is Athena Fisher but my handle is based on my Maiden name. My handle is @athena_rangel. I was already on several platforms and had followers but COVID affected me and I started to get depressed. I was scrolling through Instagram one day and saw a profile for the Dallas Social Influencers. Funny thing was I was already promoting restaurants and brands without even knowing. I joined the influencers and have grown my following and brands that I collaborate with. It’s great to have an outlet and something that I enjoy doing.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Once I joined the Dallas Social Influencers I invested my time in networking via Instagram. I also came across DFW and Texas loops. This is where you can follow others. By following others, I found groups to join. Within the groups, we drop advice, like each others post. The groups have been great to utilize but at the same time I have made friends. Being personable and networking has been in the key in my brand.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, I’m allowed to be me and enjoy everything that I love! I can go from dressing for EDM concerts to dressing up for Broadway shows. It’s freedom to showcase different events that my followers enjoy.
I love being me and enjoy what I do.
