We recently connected with Mercedies Wakefield and have shared our conversation below.
Mercedies, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I’d like to start by saying, I’m still learning, still evolving, still trying to reach that niche that completes the mission behind my story. I’m a very creative person, its my outlet. With that said, I wanted to create something that people, women in particular, could relate to in regards to feeling empowered. I want to help women feel empowered and confident from birth on to live consciously. To let go of what society says you “should” do and instead do what feels good for YOU. Especially when it comes to your health and wellness.

Mercedies, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Mercedies, I am the owner of Wakefield Wellness and TheWakeCo. Wakefield is my last name so I took that as inspiration for the brand and rolled with it.
Growing up I loved art class, it was my favorite. That’s where TheWakeCo. comes in. It started with jewelry. Mostly earrings, because those tell you so much about a person’s personality, its fun to create new styles for various customers. I sell on Etsy and at local markets. Most recently I have been playing around with and adding in aromatherapy jewelry to help with emotional balance, handmade body butters, face wipes, and hair growth sprays -all toxic free.
As I continued to grow up, nutrition, health, wellness, and clean living became another interest of mine. I struggled with my health at a younger age and was able to improve this myself with implementing the healing powers of self care and what you put in and ON your body. This is where Wakefield Wellness was born. I mainly focus on how to bring back confidence, age gracefully, and how to feel empowered to love yourself again. I work with mostly women providing self pace, 3 month guided, and 6 month guided wellness programs. Hormone imbalances are one of the top complaints I hear from my clients. I help bring balance back by educating them about hidden toxins around us and how to replace them with essential oils and herbs that actually improve our health, along with eating for your bio-individuality, mindset, and so much more! In the summers, I will be also, starting to do wellness consults around our town in the mini school bus we are in the process of converting!
I feel proud of the hard work I have put into my businesses and how much support I have received from those around me, I know its still ever evolving, but I know I want to continue to help others by providing wellness support and clean products that are easy for others to get their hands so they can feel their best!
You can find me on Instagram @wakefieldwellness_ and @the.wakeco to follow along and become apart of the movement and even a friend!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I like this question. I think my journey hasn’t been this fast pace, thousand follower business, but its steady. I think this proves resilience. I want to spread the word around wellness, and if it’s just ONE person, it means I am helping someone. Would it be nice if I had tons of followers, sure maybe, but I want this to grow organically, not forcefully. Thats resilience.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
We’ve moved a time or two since starting this business, I think each time forces me to pivot. It makes me step outside of my comfort zone and network with a new community. But there is also a beauty in this, I get to meet more wonderful people and grow as a person.
