Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Murphy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to increase awareness within individuals. Also guiding people to effectively deal with emotions and learning how to manage energy wisely, by movement, sound, and emotional intelligence.
Many years ago I gave more energy into people that were undeserving, that includes me, which left me drained with little energy. This manifested physically and mentally. I kept fighting my intuition, as I was frightened to set boundaries towards people who were neglectful of my energy. It finally came to a point where the universal law gave me no option, and I began to accept the change that was inevitable. In doing so, I lost what I identified myself as. I gave so much of myself that when I finally had the opportunity to find me (I) again, I was lost and I felt lost for a very long time. . It took me several years of shifting through peaks and valleys of emotions and negative thinking.
Yoga was introduced shortly before the drastic shift. Things shift in and out of our life; many of those things help guide us towards our true selves.
I started to set routines which consist of meditation, yoga practices, awareness of intake, affirmations, setting boundaries; and again some of those boundaries were guided towards mySELF. I had to release what did not serve me to become aware of the chaos of low emotions, so when they arise I can practice my affirmations (shifting my thought pattern).
Yoga plays a big role in my life as a guidance to Self Realization. The more I practice, the more I see the experience and the introduction to mySELF become intertwined.
This experience guided me to assist in helping others find theirSELF.
Yoga is a union between mind, body and SELF, an experience of enlightenment.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My mission is to increase people perceptions of themselves, to increase their self love, their compassion. To decrease the negative thought process and rise above it. To increase awareness and to help find that introduction to self… Yoga was introduced to me when I was in an emotionally low state. I was a student for a year, I was taking maybe 3-4 classes a day. I was noticing how it really helped when I kept with it. I started teaching yoga in December 2015, and noticed how it helped so many more people as well. I decided to get my Emotional Intelligence Life Coach certification, because the two seem to correlated with each other.
I do also book study and classes, but my prior experiences help me to guide more people to healing. I see myself within them and I know with practice, self love and patience they can rise above the chaos too.
I am currently teaching at different locations, such as a gym, hospital, therapist office, etc.
I know it works, I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
When I first started my journey picking up a book on yoga philosophy was very foreign to me, I did not understand. Now I am understanding, because of my practices and routines. Here are a few books that helped guide me,
Bhagavad Gita – Easwaran
Suggestion is to read the Bhagavad Gita 3 times, 1st time your perception, 2nd time in Arjuna’s perception, 3rd in Krishna’s perception. (Advised by Alan Watts and Ram Dass)
Yoga Nidra – Swami Satyananda Saraswati
The Path of the Yoga Sutras – Nicolai Bachman
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Sri Swami Satchidananda
The Kybalion – Three Initiates
The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice – Deborah Adele
I could provide so many more, but these are good to start with.
I also listen to Alan Watts on YouTube- such an amazing philosopher.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was it is okay to say NO. Boundaries are necessary to keep my energy bank where it needs to be for my healing. I gave so much of myself to individuals. I had to learn it is okay to set boundaries, it is okay for me to conserve my energy, it is okay to sit in stillness for myself. This needs to be done to keep my cup filled. It is okay to put myself first.
