We recently connected with Nadine Chavez and have shared our conversation below.
Nadine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Growing up I knew I always had a passion for the beauty industry. I decided to follow my passion and get my cosmetology license. Being from a small town I knew I wanted learn from only the best and work in an inspiring environment. In order to do that I knew I had to take risks. After landing a job at one of the best salons in West Hollywood I then moved to Hollywood to begin my career. I started at the front desk for a year and then trained under top colorist Stacy Heitman for several years until I earned my chair at the salon. Looking back I will forever be grateful for the way my career path played out and for having an amazing mentor. Hard work always pays off.
Nadine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing more in love with hair color each day I am so happy I choose this career path. I love the feeling of making people feel confident, beautiful and happy leaving the salon. I specialize in beachy hair color, effortless blondes and mens hair color. I do both balayage which is a French painting technique and also foil technique. Keeping the integrity of the hair healthy throughout each color service is the most important to me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to wake up everyday and do something I love is a blessing. The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when a client simply trusts me with their hair, lets me be the artist and lets my creativity flow. It takes a lot patience and I love working on projects/transformations that sometimes take hours or sessions. The end result and the smile on their face is always so rewarding in the end.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I truly believe having people in your life you can look up to you and that believe in you are very important. My mission is to inspire people to follow their dreams and never give up, to reach for the stars.
I want to be able to tell my story and inspire people to teach everything I have learned.
