We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Terrance Barksdale a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Terrance, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
It’s something that I have been going through all of my life coming up. It all started when I was young. I could have been about nine or ten years old. My mother did not have much but the basics to survive food, shelter, and decent clothes. It might not have been what I wanted at the time, but it was still clothes. We were destitute, so I never could get the things I wanted, so I decided to change that and started selling candy. I only had about three dollars at the time and was bout the cheapest candy to sell at school till I had enough for my cases of snickers, twists, and sodas extra. Now I was able to buy everything I wanted with my own money. The point is you have to take risks. Instead, they are big or small, and the fear of not knowing will always be there, but you want to know until you try.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
It all started in 2016 if the idea of creating a branding company. It was just a thought for a while until 2017 came around. I figured I’d taken so many chances so far, so why not. I started by creating a brand that could represent all walks of life. “Get It” Brand is something we do without a thought every day “Get It”; We all have something we are trying to strive for, whether a big dream or a small one. The “Get It” mentality is instilled in all of us. That brings us to now, the Time to take things to a higher level and a staple in the human mindset. Everything you do will have its ups and downs, and with that comes along hate, envy, and disloyalty. The main thing is trying to stay creative while many others around you are waiting on your next move. Dare to be different and dare to be great. You only last as long as you provide the wave and then move on to the next. Trust yourself and be very cautious of others. Not everyone means well. Now I will be more focus on the photography and video side of things more to bring a different and new feel of what’s up my sleeve next.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My whole life, I have been a creative person. For the longest, I was known for making music and artwork, and my passion has always been there creatively. The thing I’m most proud of is the simple fact of how well I can adapt to change. That’s the most important thing. Some too many people are stuck in the past and still settled on old ways, and old ideas want to progress you in any new method or direction that sets you up for future success.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I am an active reader. When I have time, there is plenty of books that put me in the right mindset when it comes to not only being creative but I as a person, such as recognizing my strengths and weakness and just having a better outlook on life where we all get up in the morning with no pure reasoning on maximizing not only over full potential but expound on our entire day such as little sleep at least eight hours of our daily work another eight hours and only leaves us 8 hours left to do everything else. But the books I read are, “As a man thinkeh,” Do the work,” Rich dad poor dad, etc.
