We recently connected with Tara English and have shared our conversation below.
Tara , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
There is no “easy” button for success in todays business world. Success isn’t given it is earned. I could not be in the top 1% nationwide in my company without consistency, drive and dedication. I start my day with one hour each morning dedicated to relaxing my mind. This step allows me to focus on the many tasks at hand throughout the day. As a Real Estate Broker and Restaurant Owner focus and drive is essential to maintain success. Running not one but two businesses is no easy task. I rely on myself mostly but I also surround myself with support. A dear friend once told me in the midst of growing pains “You have to delegate to elevate”.. this advice changed my business model and since then I have not only doubled my business but have built a model not just for my own success but for the success of others around me. Being a person who struggles with relinquishing control this was not an easy task but by far one of the most beneficial one. I am able to employ those with skillsets that help my business elevate such as a social media manager, a full time administrative assistant and other brokers to assist in client growth. I am dedicated to not only my success but those around me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I ventured into the real estate industry after purchasing my first home. I loved the process so much I wanted to make a career out of it. With two small children at home the industry provided me the opportunity to have a flexible schedule. Fast forward 15 years I now run a team of 7 agents. We have managed two years in a row to make it to the top 1% in our industry. My team and I pride ourselves on our client care and satisfaction. This business practice has allowed us to maintain continual growth and success. 97% of our business stems from friends, family and referrals therefore client satisfaction is very important to me.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a college dropout I was unsure if I would truly be successful in my industry. My generation was taught that college was pretty much a necessity in order to obtain success. As I entered into my real estate career I had to replace that lesson or thought with confidence. Confidence that I could learn the skills necessary to be a leader in my industry. After a decade of hard work and dedication I have made it.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I pride myself on client care and satisfaction. Communication and setting expectations are a critical piece of a real estate transaction. My clients know that their interests and satisfaction are my number 1 priority.
