We were lucky to catch up with Shontavia Houston recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shontavia , thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?

Growing up Life was VERY hard, at the age of 13 I was introduced to a living environment/Community that involved me seeing Drug Addicts, Helpless Homeless Residents, Shoot Outs, Black on Black Crime, Prostitutes, Ect. I was the Oldest of my siblings on my Mother’s side so I had to play a huge roll in my household as a kid. No child should ever have to witness such DEPRESSING circumstances growing up!!!

Now I didn’t allow my surroundings to get me down so I found a SAFE PLACE and that was Cummings Recreational Center Following Southern SKATES on Ledbetter in Dallas Tx, 75216. Whenever I felt bad or wanted peace and happiness those businesses are what kept me SANE!!! My mother Zion didn’t have all the luxuries my neighbors had but we always had a full stomach, Clothes on our backs, and Shelter. I never regret my living environment……..IT MADE ME WHO I AM TODAY(STRONG/DETERMINED)!!!!!!!!!! Zion had me at Sixteen so I grew up with her learning life lessons early thank God for my WARRIOR ANGEL she taught and demonstrated how not to give up and to put my “Big Girl Panties On”!!!!!!!!! no matter the circumstance Zion made her and my sibling have everything we needed… NOT WANTED!!!!!! Still today she has motivated me and PUSHED me to be a better me!!!

Shontavia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’ve been open for business since 2019 as a Nail Tech But when COVID-19 hit the air my Company took a HUGE
loss causing me to lose capital and Clients(SOCIAL Distance BLUES) so you know what I did……….I enrolled in any

courses dealing with beauty/Wellness now I have 6 Certifications in Beauty/Wellness. Still not being able to react to individuals took ANOTHER TURN IN MY CAREER!!!!! Now at this point, I’m thinking about how to make money to provide for my family….so here I go again enrolling in more courses to soon find my “DIVINE PURPOSE”. Becoming a Spiritual Mentor has changed my life a lot now I offer Healing/Energy Cleanse Therapy which allows an individual to understand that they are now ALONE! After completing mentoring program client receives an Accredited Certification in the selected field; also can be used to offer Healing/Mentoring Programs.
There is no age to advancing your intellect so I offer to 12&Up finding your purpose in life has to age, so Sapphire Fantacy will continue to guide our community to EXCELLENCE.

Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?

OMG!!! Yes, During the Pandemic I received a Government Grant (PPP) allowing me to take the step toward my Dreams!!! I found a Salon that I have been wanting for 2 years and I finally got it. for about 3 months I was pilling out old furniture and painting my brand-new walls feeling the excitement of every moment. Many clients walked by to see if I was operating and that BOOST MY MOTIVATION to complete my salon(store-front). UNTIL the turns happen….. after the major thunderstorm my ceilings begin to leak and eventually CAVED IN! I didn’t freak out I started trying to call all businesses to help me, unfortunately, I couldn’t afford the labor so that sent me into a big depression… family tried to motivate me and my BIGGEST SUPPORTER my Fiancée Markeith stood by my side. I tried to keep going UNTIL…………a Pipe BURST causing all the tile applied to lift and began to build mold; at this point I’m giving up on my dream and not passionate anymore. something had to change.

As of today, I have RELEASED my Dream Nail Salon to pursue my career in Spiritual Healing/Mentoring I had to let go of the one thing that made me feel like I had a place in this world. So I spent ALOT of money to build up my company to watch it FALL APART……….. But I realize that God put you in certain situations/events for lessons and learning and I’m truly grateful that The Highest allowed me to experience being the OWNER OF A NAIL SALON, But I remembered I’m still a Nail Tech I just don’t have a building SO WHAT……If its meant it will be placed at my feet again
