We were lucky to catch up with Saidee Glantz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Saidee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Coming up with a company name was something I really struggled with. Poppy Events came about after some deep thought. I am a Taurus, and based off of that zodiac, the lucky flower is a Poppy. If you are a Taurean, you are said to be strong, compassionate, and love being surrounded by love and natural beauty. Similar to a poppy flower, they stand their ground and exude beauty and positivity. With that being said, we at Poppy Events hold a high standard with our work. We are very passionate about out events and want to make sure our couples have the most memorable day of their lives by pouring our heart and soul into the design of their event.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! I am Saidee and I started Poppy Events after I graduated form the University of Nebraska! While in college, I interned at a local event space as their day coordinator for weddings. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit about me and I quickly grew fascinated with the wedding industry. It is the best day of many peoples lives and one of the largest, if not, the largest celebration someone hosts in their life. I graduated in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and finding a job to begin my career in the hospitality world seemed impossible. I started wedding planning and advertising myself on social media! As of now, Poppy Events offers wedding management, partial planning, full planning and a mobile bar + coffee experience! We have recently revamped our original packages as we believe every couple deserves a wedding planner on their big day. This is now allowing us to be more personable while creating a luxury experience for our clients. Our mobile bar, which we call The Day Drinker is an 1969 travel trailer we have brought back to life for the sole purpose of bringing the bar to you! We work with the client to customize a menu that is unique to them and the event. We are able to work any private event you may have in mind! I am incredibly proud of how far Poppy Events has come since it originated in 2020. We are constantly growing and adding new features to our business! We are SO excited to see what is next in store for Poppy!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
When opening Poppy Events, I started reading a ton of non-fiction books on business. One of my absolute favorites is “Don’t keep your day job” by Cathy Heller! She actually has a podcast too! It was the start of what lit my soul on fire to put everything that I can into Poppy Events!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
This question is a no brainer! I want to start by thanking all of my past clients because they are truly amazing! The most successful strategy for growing my clientele has been the support from pats clients, friends and family referring my business! They have done this by sharing my social media posts, writing reviews, telling their friends about me and even using their social media to tag me in posts!
