Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cara D’Orazio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cara, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started my business, C.G.M. Fitness, Inc., at the start of the Covid 19 pandemic. At the time I was running to various gyms (including Equinox), teaching 15 classes per week, and going to client’s homes to train them 1:1. I was sometimes driving 90+ miles per day. When gyms closed, I started teaching the group classes online as well as my 1:1’s. I realized there was a true need for this!
Going to the gym can be a hassle, especially if just taking a class. People liked waking up and being able to get the same quality class without having to go anywhere. I teach so many formats including strength, barre, my own hybrid barre/Pilates class called L.E.T.S. Werq! TM ( Lengthen, elongate, tone, stretch), band, etc.
If the clients can’t make it LIVE, they can take the class on demand at their convenience. All the live 50 min. classes go up 5 days per week as well as a special shorter 30 min. format once a week.
I also take clients 1:1 online and in person. We converted our 2 car garage into a fitness studio! I I travel to local homes as well!
Cara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Cara D’Orazio jumped on board with virtual training at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, she was teaching fifteen classes a week and privately training in ten clients’ homes. Cara is both a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She seeks to give you the total fitness experience in minimal time by activating every muscle group in each class.
Cara is certified through the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), which is the most rigorous and respected certification in the industry. She is also certified through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) and ISSA (International Sports and Sciences Association.)
Cara is proficient in Barre, Pilates, TRX, Kettlebell, and is a specialist in Sports conditioning. She has created the L.E.T.S. (Lengthen, Elongate, Tone and Stretch) Werq! TM format. This intertwines highly specific Pilates and Barre based moves with low-impact cardio.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My husband and I had just bought our home a week before covid hit! I knew I needed to find a way to make money and keep our home. With the stress of moving, losing my job a the gym (due to it closing), I was still able to open this new business and keep our home!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am constantly pivoting in the fitness industry. What started out as being all in person events, became all virtual, and now it is a total mix of virtual and in person. This is completely finding the preference of the client and gearing the fitness program to them. I always find the best way is to find the formats they truly love! This motivates the client to want to workout and continue!
