We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andria Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andria , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I was in my junior year of college and was forced to leave school due to COVID 19. I started my business during the pandemic and at the time it felt like the perfect timing because the world was full of PPP loans and stimulus checks so business was booming week after week . After the money was gone and the world was back to normal business started to slow leading me to think I should have started my business sooner. I think that if I would have started years before the pandemic I could have built a stronger foundation and better branding
Andria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Andria Thomas. I am 24 years old, and I graduated from Fisk University with a bachelors in Physics. I am the owner of Dridajeweler where you can purchase bracelets, necklaces, earrings and everything shiny. I have always been interested in fashion and accessories since a young child. I recently walked in New York Fashion week with designer Si Tu veux. My business dridajeweler is my baby . I feel in love with jewelry because you can turn a outfit so simple into something silk and classy . It is like adding a cherry on top of a milkshake. I am proud that i have been able to sell the same inventory for almost 3 years and the customers keep coming. In 2023 , I look forward to expanding, building a team and better branding .
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
BE YOURSELF. . When I first got on social media it was so simple. You didn’t have to do too much so from the jump I had the mind set of just being myself creating my own narrative. I also make sure that before I promote anyone else products, I always make sure I show up in my things and I think that’s what really gets the audience going when they see that you’re actually wearing your products. So my advice for anyone starting a brand make sure that you push it everyday whether you have 10 or 10,000 followers
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My best source of new clients has been word of mouth. The quality of my products leaves a great impression on my clients. I also get a lot of clients from doing reels on instagram.
