Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittny Hart. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Yes, we absolutely take vacations!
My husband and I both run successful companies…our lives are full of multitasking, leveling up and going above and beyond for our clients and teams. In addition to that, we travel every month…and we get to see amazing places!
…but we don’t call it a vacation. A vacation is something you do to escape from your life. A “soul-filling exploration” is an experience that takes you away from the logistical rhythm of normal day tasks and allows you to check in with values and realign with self.
We use travel, exploration and a change in scenery to force ourselves to stand a state of abundance. It’s in those places (wherever we are in the world) where we reevaluate our goals and ensure that we are doing everything intentionally.
When we are at our homebase, we work hard, and we crush it! We stick to our life routine because it sets us up for healthy success. When we consistently put ourselves in a new place we have a deep, soul cleansing reset. We always come home from these trips feeling more unified and excited to build our lives. More importantly, we always come back with clarity on what needs to be adjusted to optimize our happiness, health, and ability to serve in our communities. It makes us effective, enthusiastic participants in our own lives.
Successful businesses have a structure to evaluate their key markers and company culture…often in quarterly off-sites. We have found that our off-sites on the side of a cliff in Ireland, or on a beach in the Caribbean, are infinitely more effective because our souls experience the change. We use “exploration” as a tool to hone ourselves into the best versions of us that we can be!
Brittny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a high performing, ambitious artist who wishes she had been born in Ireland
Daily things I can’t live without:
a walk with my husband and my dogs
a yummy drink
at least one hard boiled egg
a workout
a fuzzy blanket (or at least fuzzy socks)
a fantasy audiobook
For years I was working in the wedding industry selling wedding dresses, planning weddings and photographing weddings on the side. One summer, my husband surprised me with new camera equipment, encouraged me to quit my job and spend the summer building a company that I would love. I’m so grateful that he encouraged me to do that because building a business has been such a blessing in my personal growth, and it has allowed me to meet and serve so many amazing people!
Years ago, I scheduled a boudoir session as a gift for my husband, but it turned into a gift for myself! Seeing the photos of myself was such a powerful reality check…it allowed me to see myself with compassion, the way my husband sees me. After that experience I began offering boudoir photos to my wedding clients. Now, I run a high-volume luxury boudoir studio. The women who work with me are passionate about learning to love themselves, and they use the boudoir experience as a tool in their self-love journey.
I photograph Pinterest-worthy weddings for couples who love fairytale romance and gorgeous destinations. I also run a high-volume boudoir studio for women who want to celebrate their self-love journey.
My main intention with wedding and boudoir photography is to document the genuine person, not just their bodies in the location. The clients see themselves – confident, elegant, vulnerable and in love – within the photos. It’s the opposite of objectifying…it’s empowering and honest.
I am so happy that my clients loooove their images and experience. The most fulfilling thing to me is collaborating with clients to create art then watching them be moved with emotion and gratitude for how I documented them. The client is the muse and I make art about them. That is an honor!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
The customer experience is vital to any company. This is what generates referrals and good energy. We use a beautiful client management system as our base, but we have beefed it up with strategic marketing experiences (pre-created guides, emails, texts, voicemails, personal connection) so that the clients feel like we are holding their hand through the entire process. It’s a lovely balance of standardizing the experience but making it feel customized.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Social proof – testimonials, “as featured in” icons, google reviews – have been crucial to growth. Social proof builds trust instantly, and is often the differentiating factor between you and a competitor.
