We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Our company’s goal is first and foremost to build long term relationships with our clients and their pets by providing a stress-free experience. This takes quite a bit of trust from our clients, especially since all our services are in-home, specialized care, that we will take the best care possible of their pets, home and belongings. To show our clients how much we care for them, this year we provided holiday gifts that included a few products from our favorite small businesses, including Bocce’s Bakery. Their 100% real food dog and cat treats were a hit with the pets, and their owners, especially since their ingredients are all natural, and minimal. Use code SARAH15 for 15% off your first purchase at boccesbakery.com, Bocce’s Bakery.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Sarah’s Sitting Service LLC was started in 2021 as a professional pet sitting company that provides specialized, in-home care in the greater Denver, CO area. Today, we have a team of four sitters not including our CEO, Sarah, who part-time services. The business began to grow once it found a clear direction for the future, this being a platform where small business sitters can join to have access to vetted, consistent clientele while being supported by our larger company. Empowerment of marginalized peoples in business is our driving passion for expansion, and our clients’ positive satisfaction is our fuel. We do not have a service limit, and will service any species of pet.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Sarah’s Sitting Service LLC (@sarahs_sitting_service_llc) on Instagram reached over 1k followers in January, which was a big goal for our company! This audience didn’t show up overnight, it began to build once we began to connect with pet care industry workers from all over the globe. Finding and following pet sitters, groomers, pet salons, pet shops, breeders, rescues, etc. from around the world opened up our community. Then our page began identifying and appealing to our select audience by focusing on a certain aesthetic and style for the page, stories and postings. Lastly, posting consistently whether that is daily, hourly, or weekly is important to support the social algorithm and keep posts relevant on users’ timelines and explore page.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
As the Sarah’s Sitting Service LLC team continues to grow, the most important piece of advice I have to share is to treat others like you want to be treated. Yes, the golden rule of life! I would not assign my sitters a service that I did not feel comfortable, or safe, completing myself, just the same as I would not ask my sitters to work for less than I would be satisfied earning. The key in this strategy of compassion and respect is that your team will WANT to work for you, anytime and any day, because they believe in your company and the work they are doing. The age-old saying that “the customer is always right” doesn’t protect the servicer, or give them a fair chance to explain their side. At Sarah’s Sitting Service LLC, we believe in treating all as equals and providing a safe, comfortable environment to blossom in.
