We recently connected with Alyssia Hamilton and have shared our conversation below.
Alyssia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I want my legacy to inspire others. Many people feel like they can’t do a lot of the things they want to do. My story will inspire others to live their dreams and tackle their goals with no fear. I’m hoping my legacy will leave a great impact on entrepreneurs helping them understand to push forward and never give up.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I first interviewed for Voyage Houston I showcased my Event Planning business Popping Creations. I have grown since then and I now have 3 businesses, Popping Creations has expanded tremendously and I am grateful for the experience. My main goal as an entrepreneur is to nurture my business. I had no clue that I would have 3 successful businesses today it was me starting with one opportunity constantly working hard and then there were more. I do what I love and that’s the passion behind my businesses flourishing. I encourage everyone to step out on faith because God didn’t put that creativity in you for nothing, no matter what you are doing be sure that you love what you are doing. It’s so easy to get discouraged as an entrepreneur because it has its downs as well as its ups but the goal is to remain consistent and the rest will follow.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When Covid-19 occurred it was a hard time for my business. It didn’t generate hardly any revenue and my clients went down due to the pandemic. I had to take out loans, I had to continue working for a job that I was not happy at because I needed to pay bills and take care of my home. My dreams and goals seemed really blurry during the pandemic cause I didn’t know what was next. I was able to stand strong and push through and shortly after the pandemic I begin to see changes in the number of clients I had. The numbers went up and I was blessed with opportunities for business expansion.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When building an audience on social media it’s all about delivering messages to the community you are trying to get them to. I used reels, promotional plans, events and other resources to expand the social media presence. My advice to those who are just starting out is to be consistent you might not get all the likes and all of the following right away but don’t stop posting content don’t stop promoting your business because people are watching and you never know what impact you can make in 24 hours.
