Hi Zharia, thanks for joining us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.

Having my own business has been a JOURNEY, okay! When I think about it, I honestly don’t count any hurdle or obstacle as a setback because everything has literally been apart of THE PROCESS! I feel like many business owners don’t discuss the nitty gritty realities of starting a business! One thing I can say, is that Entrepreneurship is NOT for the weak! Lol! You’ll have “bad days”, but every single bad day contributes to the AMAZING days as a business owner! Being a licensed nail technician, I am the marketing team, the financial team, the nail tech, the promoter, the client advocate, the customer service agent, the receptionist, the stock buyer, and SO many more positions I can name off! Entrepreneurship is literally a 24/7 job not including the time you need for yourself, family, and friends! The most important thing I’ve found is that being organized and having a schedule is the best thing you can do! Having a detailed, easy-follow through schedule will at least keep you ready for anything! Being a Business Owner is a HUGE blessing and I take every single day with grace and a grain of salt!

My name is Zharia Jackson! I am a 24 year old, Licensed Nail Technician from Detroit, MI! Over the 6 years in my career, I have traveled and done nails across the state of Michigan! From painting my own 6 year nails, to doing nails in my college dorm, to working in nail salons, the journey has been SO amazing! Oh So Pretty Nails stands for Pretty Nails and Pretty Professional Vibes in every appointment! I cater to the health of natural nails and feet! My clients are my family! My support system and my Pretty Nail Gang!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Upholding professional execution in every situation, having business morals, foot work in marketing and social media promotion!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One crucial lesson I had to learn was that some things are best done by yourself, but GREATER things are done as a team! While being a nail tech and even before doing nails, I’ve learned that you obtain the greatest tools and knowledge when you seek out resources for yourself! I believe that God blesses the child that has her own and I stand by this every day!

In the same lesson, I’ve learned that you use the tools you’ve learned by yourself and for yourself, for the betterment and advancement OF OTHERS! Giving back is SO important! Sharing and collaborating on knowledge with a team or with people of the the same or different career path can lead to GREATNESS!
