We were lucky to catch up with Nichole Campbell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nichole , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The Sisters Social Inc. is a non profit founded back in 2018 but we really began to grow in 2020 during the pandemic. Back in 2017 I was seeking to find a women’s group I could join. A group of women who wouldn’t mind networking, sharing ideas , and helping others in business. I couldn’t find one in the CSRA so I decided to start my own. In 2018 The Sisters Social Inc was birthed. The Sisters Social Inc is a nonprofit organization purposes to unite women of different backgrounds, aimed to provide entrepreneurial education , professional networking and community outreach. During the pandemic while a lot of people were waiting to return to work or out of work they decided to start their own businesses. So we decided why not jump in and help. All of the women in the group have some form of knowledge of where to begin with starting a business. What we do is help women who have no knowledge of where to begin with starting a new business. We help you get started by educating you with the tools you need for success. Also we participate in community outreach as well as giving back to others.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Nichole Campbell I am from Augusta Ga born and raised. I began this journey of giving and sharing with others way before I fully understood what it was to serve others. I’ve always been the type of person to not hold back on knowledge. I’ve always said the things I know I can use to help someone else on their journey. When I stared my basket business years ago I didn’t have a group like The Sisters Social to guide me and I was totally lost. That’s why I started a non profit to help and mentor others on their business journey.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A lot of people don’t know my story and some of the challenges I’ve had to face. The challenge of just getting out the bed on a daily. I lost both of my brothers 8 years apart to Homicide. Then 8 years after my younger brother passed away I lost my dad. 3 people really close to me passed away. One thing that became so relevant and each funeral was that they were givers. That’s what people would always tell me how my brothers and dad gave and shared with so many people. I made it my business to live the rest of my days giving back and helping others just as they did. The Sisters Social is my baby and if we don’t do anything else we are givers.
Any advice for managing a team?
The best advice I can give for managing a team is have conversations. Ask your team questions. Ask for their feedback. Also check in with them and what they may have going on. If we are going to build and grow I should be concerned about you. I should care. Also give your team their flowers while they are here ! I want all of us to be on the same page.
