We were lucky to catch up with HEATHER HARBAUGH recently and have shared our conversation below.
HEATHER, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents gave me ongoing opportunities to be exposed to other cultures and languages. We lived near a community college that attracted many international students. My dad was a pastor and often studied in the college library where he would inevitably meet someone and invite them over for dinner. We had meals with people from Poland, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Laos…just to name a few! This gave me an intrinsic understanding that there are many ways to view life and beautiful aspects in every culture.
Oftentimes, our guests would bring food representative of their home country, and my parents taught us to be gracious and to always accept with gratitude whatever they offered us, and to try it…even if just one bite! Later, when I graduated high school, my parents strongly encouraged me to be an exchange student…even with all of my exposure to people from other cultures,
I was very reluctant to leave the safety of my home, family, friends…all the familiar. However, my courage won out and I spent a year in Spain as an exchange student. This transformed my life, gave me a second language, and helped me see in a brand new way how the way we think is very important and that there are many different ways to accomplish living life. I am thankful for the gift my parents gave me which has helped me in being able to see from many different angles, have understanding of where people are coming from, and then offer my students and clients my insights to help them develop a more expansive way of living life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
One of my favorite stories is about a client who hadn’t driven in 8 years after having an accident. After only one 60-minute session with me, she started driving again the next day and has been driving ever since! It’s testimonies like this one and hundreds of others like it that form the foundation for why I do what I do. I love helping people get their lives back and, even more, thrive in amazing, brand new ways they hadn’t even thought to imagine or allow themselves to imagine until having a session with me.
I came into art and mindset work through my love and desire of helping people see the truth about themselves and change the way they think about their lives and the importance of who they are.
I speak life and ignite hope, peace, joy, enthusiasm, excitement, ease, fun, grace, and love in all my clients. Each person leaves my sessions feeling lighter and with increased clarity and security in living in their full purpose and life mission now.
Many of my clients come to me feeling anxious and discouraged about where they are in life, filled with self-doubt and limiting beliefs about what success can mean for them – in business, in relationships, in health, in spirituality, in emotional well-being. They have a variety of body signals, life circumstances, and personal challenges with a desire to upgrade and level up in how they think so they can experience and create what they choose instead of reacting to what is showing up in their lives.
I help them find their unconscious and subconscious programming, gain insight into all degrees of emotions and triggers, find their keys to fulfillment and satisfaction, and equip them with tools to enjoy their lives now, while embracing their growth and metamorphosis and feeling deeply loved, cherished, honored and respected.
In my sessions I often utilize the power of scent (via essential oils when possible) to help neutralize self-sabotage, emotional triggers, and limiting thoughts and empower my clients with a new sense of who they are and the power they have to do what they are here to do. I have used this technique with all walks of life – from homeless people I meet on the street to leaders of organizations of over 100K members – with powerful and lasting results every time. I love seeing my client’s countenances change as they experience their new level of greatness and see themselves in a brand new, empowering way.
In addition to 1:1 sessions, I have several self-study courses available for those who are looking for support in shifting their mindset, establishing more joy in their lives, and activating their creative genius so they can create what they are here to create in their world. My newest course: Activate Your Quantum Creativity is launching late April 2022! I believe our Creative Genius is one of the most untapped energies we have available to us. My new course helps people activate their creative genius and step into their full creative power now.
Miracle Mindset Collective is my free Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/mymiraclemindset) for those looking for support in developing their Miracle Mindset and creating their life they love. In this group I have several free trainings available to equip my members with tools for anchoring in new thoughts and beliefs for more peace, love, and joy in life.
My art journey has given me a lot of practice in actively embracing courage and faith instead of letting fear, doubt and suspicion silence me. People have told me that simply viewing my art has helped them immensely with life challenges and confirmed for them things they have been experiencing or intuiting.
I have created art prints, note cards, and a set of affirmation cards using my original artwork, and now my art is internationally known!
I also create prophetic portraits where I paint the essence of my client (when it’s a commission) or of the spiritual activity of the room I am in or what is going on in my own meditation and spiritual discovery time. I am deeply spiritual, I love Truth, and I cultivate my awareness of my Oneness with my Creator. Honestly, everything I do – from 1:1 sessions, to courses, to paintings all spring from the well of my spiritual discoveries and foundations. My most successful moments come when my clients, students, or recipients of my art get their own “aha” moment that grounds them in the ultimate Truth that they are deeply loved, fully accepted…that they matter and belong….and that they are a beacon of Light and Love in their world.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
It was in the early hours of February 2012 when I was ripped from my sleep by an intruder I later came to identify as “visceral panic & anxious thoughts.” Seemingly out of nowhere, this “morning routine” started and continued for many years unabated. Doctors visits, counseling, inner healing, supplements, medication, prayer….nothing I tried seemed to touch it or help me find the cause so I could look for my solution.
Prior to 2012 I had done a lot of inner work and received deep inner healing. I was homeschooling my 6 children at the time, and I thankfully had the emotional tools in place to help me navigate my intense feelings so I could be present with my children and not be in a reactive state.
I found if I woke up by a certain time every morning, I beat the anxiety out of bed. I spent my first waking moments journaling pages and pages of irrational thoughts filled with fear, regret and remorse for things I’d done the day before or years before. Writing helped me immensely move through the panic so I could see things from a more grounded state of mind and re-center back on Truth.
The feelings in my body didn’t always follow, however, and some days I would simply feel anxious for no reason all day. Other times it would abate by mid-morning.
I kept searching for answers and looking at different modalities. Finally, in 2017, at a conference called Kairos, I heard a woman share about her own experience with anxiety which had manifested 6 months after she had made a very specific choice to suppress her desires and true expression and behave according to someone else’s standard for her life.
Suddenly, everything came into focus. I remembered a time 6 months prior to my first episode with early morning panic when I had made a conscious choice to suppress my true expression so someone else could be comfortable with my “performance.” At the time of making the choice, I erroneously believed limiting my true expression only on certain days a week would not affect the rest of my life.
Obviously, that was not the case. We are holistic beings – we can’t compartmentalize one part of us and think the rest of us can operate in a healthy manner for long.
This was the key I required. I realized my way out of this was through reclaiming my voice, my power, and my true expression. While my anxious mornings did not immediately disappear with my discovery, I found that the more I practiced letting my true light shine, the more ease I had in my mornings. And on the days when I suppressed, the next morning my anxiety would be back full force. My body was not allowing me to go back into a tool that no longer served me.
Only shining and expressing my truest self, my brightest light was now “allowed” and now equipped with this new understanding, I began to unravel decades of beliefs and patterns that I had been taught or were passed down to me where I hid my light to accommodate the comfort or standards of others.
No more.
It is now my mission in life to shine fully independent of the thoughts and opinions of others and to empower others to do the same. I shine me fully. I express my true essence and trust God with the rest.
I still have days where I “forget” and slip back into old habits of hiding…and my body is faithful to communicate to me so I can remember my new choice and recommit to only expressing my True essence.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I had been building a successful career as an instructor in a modality called “Aroma Freedom”. I had taught several certification classes and had been contacted to travel to teach in other areas. I envisioned traveling all over the world to equip and train hundreds of people in this powerful technique.
Then my dad got a surprise diagnosis late 2018, right as I was preparing to teach my 12th certification class. We were optimistic he would be able to eradicate it. I taught my class and worked with my students to complete their certification process, not dreaming it would be my last.
The disease was more aggressive than we were expecting and in less than three months, my dad passed.
In my grieving season that followed, I put a pause on my certification classes. Not long after, the Aroma Freedom certification program changed, and instructors were no longer needed.
It was a double challenge – navigating life with my dad now in the heavenly dimension and letting go of my dream of teaching certification classes all over the world.
The pause in my business gave me the opportunity to heal, be more present to my mom, and allow space for my next opportunity to come to me. Truth is, I’m still pivoting. Aren’t we all since 2020!?!
I’ve learned that the key to successful pivots is willingness to be flexible and trust everything is always working out for me. It’s not always easy, and I’m finding when I look for my blessings I always find them.
I now teach online courses of my own design, with my own brand, and on my own platform. I’m grateful for the experience Aroma Freedom gave me with in person and online teaching. I’m grateful for my dad and the principles he instilled in me and the way his presence is still with me, cheering me on in my “great cloud of witnesses.”
