Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I have been through many obstacles in life that sparked a downward spiral. After several years, I stopped sinking in self-pity and I began to heal. Healing happened through prayer, love and utilizing resources. I realized that I didn’t just go through things in life to overcome obstacles but I needed to use the tools I gained to help others. At that moment, my purpose became “bigger than me”. I made it my mission, to use every inch of my being to help others grow holistically through all of my endeavors.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name is Ashley Monique. I am an entrepreneur, author, professor, community activist and mentor. I am the CEO and founder of Ashley Monique, LLC. Services through this business include nonprofit business startup, trainings, motivational speaking, consulting, and coaching.

I developed a clothing line called “Beautifully Favored.” This line specializes in women’s workout gear. We encourage women to live a healthy lifestyle and exercise often. Fedora hats are also available for accessorizing and dressing professionally.

In addition, I have started a book series called Reconnecting My Brokenness: Tips To Renew Your Mind. Books written within this series include Reconnecting My Brokenness: Tips To Renew Your Mind 90-Day Devotional, Reconnecting My Brokenness: Tips To Renew Your Mind 180 “Amour”Devotional, Reconnecting My Brokenness: Tips To Renew Your Mind 9-Month “Forgiveness” Devotional, and Reconnecting My Brokenness: Tips To Renew Your Mind “12-Month Prayer Calendar”.

The purpose of my business and book endeavors are to help people overcome brokenness, provide opportunities for small businesses and give assistance to community members in need. My business mission is geared towards “promoting holistic growth”. Being that my mission focuses on helping others, I am most proud of the work that I do for community members.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I worked for a good job that provided me with a lot of great opportunities. However, one day I had the desire to start my own business. I was extremely scared and didn’t know where to start. I didn’t have the start up funding to successfully run a business.

For almost 2 years, I pondered on the idea of starting that business. I developed a mission and vision that I wanted to execute. The thing that made me most fearful was not knowing if my business would succeed or fail. At some point the desire to start the business became so powerful, until it was all I thought about. Eventually, I made the decision to start my business and leave my full-time job.

I made a huge pivot in my career. The initial shift was not easy. Learning how to run a business was hard and time consuming. A lot of prayer and hard work went into developing the platform that I have today. Even though the journey has not been easy, it was one of the best decisions, I have ever made. It’s one thing to run a business but it’s another thing to develop a successful business from nothing.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Being loyal to your customers and clients is very important. Connecting with them often establishes rapport and shows appreciation. Reaching out to them and making constant contact is a great way to build loyalty and positive relationships. Creating and maintaining a solid brand helps to solidify a successful business.
