We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andi Priego. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andi below.
Andi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Mainly take action on the ideas we have in mind, because if we never do it, if we never move a finger, our goals or objectives will never be achieved.
Also another point to consider is to be persistent, not everything will work out on the first try, and that’s fine, but it depends on you if things work or not. If we look behind the story of successful companies, writers, actors, etc. We can look that they have been rejected, that it took them many years to get to the place where they are now, and why is that? because they never took their finger off the line, they didn’t give up, and that has helped and taught me a lot, because I am aware that not everything will happen from one day to another, but that is why I’ve always persevered in everything, from generating new content, innovating my photography methods, ideas and much more so that can help me to stand out of the market.
I have always been a fan of getting out of my comfort zone, there have even been people who have laughed at me, who have doubted me, but I have remained firm in my ideas and in the goals that I want to achieve in life; At first, of course, it’s difficult, but over the time I realized how far I’ve come and I’ve been making progress, and no one can take that away from me. The fact of being part of many people’s memories makes me very happy that they take me in count and that they recommend me, it is something that I never thought would happen to me
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Andi Priego, I’m originally from Puebla, Mexico and since i have memory i have always had the passion for travel and photography.
In one of the companies that I worked, I had the opportunity to take the photos for a fire brigade training, the communication department lent the camera to our department to document the emergency plan training in all the communication content like: flyers, magazines and all the monthly material that needs to be distributed. I was really excited because I was responsible to take the photos that day. At the end of the training, I delivered the photos to the communication department and I continued working on my other activities; the next thing I remember, is that I received a call from the communication manager and she asked me: “Andi, who took the photos from the training?” I was worried, because I thought something went wrong with the camera or the final result (the photos), I answered: “I did, I took the photos” then she told me that my work was great, that the result was photojournalistic, I felt really great that time, I was really proud of my self to know that I could contribute, transmit my ideas and vision through the photos. I was really grateful because they gave me the opportunity and support me to attend a photography course after my daily activities during a long period time, I attended the course with the communications manager and it was a really great experience, to know that I could contribute with additional knowledge in events, activities and more in the company.
Later with the time, in other company I met a manager who had an entrepreneurship, one day we had a talk about life goals and objectives, I wasn’t sure about my purpose in life that time, but I told him about my photography passion, that probably I could make that as a business because in that time I didn’t have the confidence on myself and what I would be able to achieve; so, he encouraged me to do this as a business, to start, he motivated me, that time I opened my eyes and I realized that I could do something in my life that could help me to achieve my purpose and life goals.
It is worth mentioning that I was very happy where I worked that time lol, I was really happy doing what I was doing, but I wanted to follow my dream, my purpose in life.
I love to capture the essence and personality of each person who is in front of my lens; is normal to hear “I’m not photogenic”, “I feel weird in front of the camera”, etc. But what I normally say is you don’t worry about it, I’m here to help you; and what I love the most is that after I deliver the galleries to my clients, is their feedback like: “Andi, we were struggling with all the people around us, but you made it work”, “OMG, the results are amazing” and stuff like that, that gives me power to continue with this project and keep working and motivates me to be better day by day.
While the client is in front of my lens, I’ll be photojournalism the story that they want to tell, at the same moment I am also composing and directing the shots through the photo session or the special event. I understand that being in front of the camera can be weird or difficult but I direct my clients so they feel comfortable and show the best emotions and natural expression for a good story to tell through the photographs.
Andi Priego photography is characterized by documenting special moments in life, proposals, weddings, birthdays, family moments and more, all those important events to remember. I have collaborated with other awesome entrepreneurs and we have formed excellent work teams to capture the best moments for the clients, such as picnics, luxury pop up proposals, and more. I have been published in magazines like “San Diego Union Tribune”, “Gente bonita”, “Mujer Actual”, to name a phew.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My motto is “Capturing the magic of the moment”, so, my goal is to deliver the best memories from all the special moments to my clients, handle all the details with care so they just can enjoy and forget about my lens.
During the events, my goal is to encourage my clients and their guests to put their cellphone away or the pocket and just enjoy the special moment or the party. I always tell my clients you just relax, enjoy the party that I got this.
My mission is that my clients always feel comfortable in front of my lens, to be able to capture their beautiful essence in the photographs that I deliver. When I receive messages from my clients like: “Hey Andi, we felt really comfortable with you”, or “we loved to work with you” I feel really happy because that means that I’m achieving it.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I am always very happy to be part of the most important moments of my clients, that they consider me to document their emotions, reactions and expressions for events that only occur once in a lifetime.
Being able to witness and be an accomplice of their love stories, success, and much more. The fact that I can have the opportunity to write a chronicle through photographs with my camera is a real pleasure.
And even is more rewarding when my clients recommend me and come back to me because they tell me that they loved my work, the results, my vibe, that they felt comfortable working with me, that is just beautiful and so satisfying for me.
When we are at the important event/moment, I am very pleased and it is very exciting to see all the family members and friends gathered to also be witnesses and complicit in the stories of my clients, it makes me remember why I love to do this.
The truth is that all this makes me very happy and continues to motivate me to put my heart into my work and be able to deliver quality results and continue capturing the best to my clients at all time.
