We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Whitney Fair a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Whitney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I saw a live theatre performance, I was around 6 years old and was completely awestruck. I was fascinated that these actors were bringing out emotions from the audience and transporting the audience into this magical fantasy world.

Whitney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was featured in Voyage for my restorative yoga classes I teach on Fort Lauderdale beach. This summer I’m teaching 2 classes a week during sunrise on the beach. I’m also a voice actor and an underwater performer in the MeduSirena SwimShow on Fort Lauderdale beach.
I dabbled with theatre and independent films throughout my teenage years and twenties. It wasn’t until my thirties until I started booking consistent voice acting gigs and started performing every weekend in the MeduSirena Swimshow in Fort Lauderdale.
I definitely keep busy with teaching yoga, booking voice-work gigs, and performing live every weekend in the MeduSirena SwimShow. I’m really grateful that my work enables me to creatively express myself and to make people feel good either through yoga or entertainment.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first moved to Florida at the end of 2014, I took a job working for a company that had amazing benefits and paid well. Problem was, I hated the job and dreaded going to work. I was making a good salary but it was crushing my soul. I worked for the company for over 2 years until one day I realized that it didn’t matter how much money I was making if I was miserable.
I left that job at the very beginning of the year in 2017 and it was scary leaving the stability and steady paycheck behind. But it was the best choice I ever made for my mental, physical, and spiritual health.
I had already been working as a voice actor as a side hustle since 2012 but my bookings started increasing. Within a year, I was certified to teach yoga and got hired to swim in the MeduSirena SwimShow.
I’m so glad I believed in myself and took that leap of faith.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The Magic by Rhonda Byrne is an amazing book about learning to harness the power of gratitude. Gratitude has been a complete game changer when it comes to creating abundance in my life.
There will always be somebody that has it easier than you but there will always be someone who has it much harder. The person you think has it easy has likely overcome obstacles you have no idea about. I have my own struggles but I use those struggles as tools to make me harder, better, faster, stronger.
Life is all about perspective and if you don’t have gratitude for what you do have, then I highly suggest changing gears. Every morning I journal about as many things as possible that I’m grateful for. Do you have a bed? Be grateful for that bed! There’s people all over the world sleeping in floors, on streets, or in cars.
