Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darnetta Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Darnetta, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is that I want to bring smiles and joy to my customers. When I started Darnetta’s Creative Gifts I was going through a dark time. Creating baskets brought joy to me . When I’m creating it truly brings me joy! I want to create gifts and more to bring g smiles to my customers.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started Darnetta’s Creative Gifts in 2017. I made a diaper cake for a family member and they encouraged me to start selling them.i started promoting them and everyone seemed to love them and placing orders! I then branched off into more holidays . Mother’s Day and Easter being my top seasons.. I begin to offer gift baskets all year round. Shortly after I started making baskets I lost my day job of 13 years and I had time to reflect and come up with a plan. My slogan is that ” Pick Your theme and Watch me Create”. My gift baskets were customized to the clients liking . Shortly after I branched off into event decorating. I enjoy this so much because I bring the customers vision to life. I have done Birthdays for all ages , Created Sweet tables, Centerpieces and more! I’ve decorated for Proms, Repass, Business events and more . Recently I’ve added Luxury Picnics and Romantic Room Setups . I love bringing joy to all of my customers!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building and online presence can be difficult. I’ve learned that if you enjoy what you do and remain consistent your followers will come! I promote my business everyday rather it be on social media or in person shopping at the grocery store! You should always promote your business and be confident about your product. Be yourself and remain hopeful. You should join others groups to network and be active! It takes time to build but don’t give up remain positive and persistent!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When covid began I had to pivot my business catered to do porch deliveries. The in person parties stopped but I was able to flourish in the gift basket business. I promoted heavily. I was able to double sales that way. I began to reach out to businesses as well to create baskets for staff and more!
