We recently connected with Diana Loaiza and have shared our conversation below.

Diana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Just like many say out there– “I just want to make a change.” Ever since we were kids there are celebrities that have greatly impacted our lives. These people were who we wanted to be ‘when we grew up’, so of course I want to be looked up to. Looked up to for making an actual difference and for being a successful latina woman. There was never someone on the television that looked like me so I never thought I could have a chance to be like them, to deserve the same opportunities etc. My goal is to change that and help to change at least one person’s life; for good.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hello, my name is Diana Loaiza; also known as Diane Roman artistically. I am a model and actor currently freelancing as I continue to build my portfolio. I am also blessed to announce my perfume “Passion” that you can now buy online through my instagram account (@diane__romann). My greatest passion is art which is why collaborating with new people to create and have fun has always been a go for me. Through local opportunities and photographer friends I began doing a couple shoots to promote their work/try my ideas and it quickly became a weekly thing. After a year of doing so I signed with Contagion Media as a model and everything changed since then! Inspired by my perfume “Passion”, “we all share the same passion” and my passion is to be seen. I want minorities to feel represented, I want females/latinos that look like me and come from small unknown backgrounds like ours to be seen. So I hope you come with me on this journey and share our passion to be the best we can be.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding- really the most important thing about being a successful artist is not only sharing your passion through your work to the world, but making an impact on someone with it. Whether I see a smile, a weird face or reaction, it is all a feeling that came from my work. I hope I not only make someone feel something, but I hope to truly change someone’s life for the better. I hope my representation helps others have the same opportunities and that those doors that were sealed shut for me are wide open for them.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.

I am sure you have at least once heard about the story of a violinist who played in the subway for a few tips. He came out to be a great musician, Joshua Bell, a famous violinist who later that day had his tickets completely sold out for his next show. I believe this is a problem that is too common nowadays. There is so much art can bring to your lives; there should be a job you can pursue from it as well. As an artist there is so much passion and dedication in our work especially because we believe in ourselves. However non creative people may lack the understanding/feeling of what art is.
