We were lucky to catch up with Delia Hickman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Delia , thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?

Yes! Absolutely! Actually my husband’s and my mentality is basically work hard and play hard, but play hard for us means take a trip! We value taking our children around the world to discover new beautiful places! We also love that this brings us closer together and we always have an amazing time of bonding, laughing and falling in love with all these beautiful places the world has to offer!

Delia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Delia Atenea Hickman, Wife, Mom of 5 and a puppy, Fashion Influencer. I graduated college and worked in Banking/ Finance for a while then realized that’s not really what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and I also wanted to spend more time raising my kids so I quite my “full time job” in Private Banking / Investments. I then did Photography as a hobby for a while until I thought I’d use my photography skills to begin sharing my love for fashion on social media. At first it was very nerve wracking but then I realized that it’s better to do something even if you’re intimidated or scared then to never give it a shot at all. All of the fear/ insecurity left me immediately as soon as I started sharing a glimpse of my life and love for fashion on social media and now I feel that I’m literally having the time of my life!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

When I started my social media fashion / lifestyle business I had no clue that I would get to partner and work with brands that I’ve worked with. At the beginning I was basically buying everything on my own and there were certainly points in my journey where I did not feel I was advancing as quickly as I wanted. However if I have anything, it’s for sure always been persistence and hard work. I did not stop working and creating content even when I wasn’t getting the brand deals and partnerships that I wanted to get. Still today there are certain dream brands that I am praying and working towards working with some day, hopefully soon!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

I LOVE sharing my outfit inspo on my platforms! Whether it’s a casual outfit to go and pick up the kids, a chic date night outfit, or a NYFW outfit, I just love sharing what I’m doing in hopes of inspiring others to glam up and feel better about themselves! The fact is that whenever we’re feeling a little down, if you put some lipstick on, put on a cute outfit, do your hair a little,……it will automatically boost your mood!
