We were lucky to catch up with Denisse Elsevyf recently and have shared our conversation below.
Denisse, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
We believe maintaining quality and keeping our designs essentially classic has been our biggest win. We relocated our business to Denver, CO from Charlotte,NC and still have clients requesting our chocolate treats because of the quality we provide.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Dulce affairs started back in 2015, out of Charlotte, NC. In the past attending family and social gatherings, I would always bring something sweet and chocolate-covered fruit was my go-to dessert. There’s nothing like fresh chocolate covered fruit! The business of sweets it’s truly evolving and so many social media trends are now part of the sweets culture. For my self when it comes to being resilient no matter a “slow season” or “high season”, discipline and consistency has been key to our success.
My passion for sweets has always been there, from my previous college and work experience. I’m a Johnson & Wales University graduate, food and desserts have always been my passion.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what has help me build our reputation in the sweets business, has been our quality and consistency. We have always remained true to suing the best products in the industry.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember my first Valentine’s Day sale, back in 2015. Our driver had an accident delivering orders. It’s was a very teachable weekend, pretty much the weekend was a profit loss. I was able to take a step back and re-think the entire delivery process. I came back strong then ever that year during Easter, sales where by far some of the highest we ever had.
