Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gergely Maklari-Kis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Gergely, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
The first thing is to understand your industry. I mean really understand. For example my business is in the entertainment industry. You have to follow the latest trends and especially focus on your subtype. So usually my day starts to read the latest news about the escape rooms. If you know every aspect of your industry you can be more prepared. The second thing is to understand the feedbacks. Every feedback is important. Good or bad. The most important is how you understand and translate them. The goal is to get better every day. With your costumers help is more easier. If they like you that means you done something good.

Gergely, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am actually a pharmacist. I knew that this is what I wanted to be from high school. However, after six years of running a pharmacy, there were changes in my country that unfortunately, we could no longer accept. Together with my family (my mom, dad and brother), we decided to move and start all over again. That’s when the idea came up to open an escape room in the United States of America. Escape rooms are a fairly recent form of interactive entertainment in which teams ranging from two to twelve players are placed in themed environments to accomplish a shared goal. They do this by working together to find hidden clues and solve puzzles that moved them closer and closer to the end. In PanIQ Room’s escape rooms, PanIQ strives to immerse our players in a different world where they can leave reality outside for a while. PanIQ Room creates an authentic atmosphere, which represents a specific theme, and every element from lighting to smoke effects, are carefully developed to enhance the players’ experience. This way the players feel that they are part of a movie or video game, but here, they are writing the script.
I am the CEO of PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta and our upcoming Miami Beach unit. The Atlanta one is one of our smallest units but one of the best performing. We have managed to create a real little jewel box within the big city. I’ve been able to put together a great team, and thanks to them we’re getting better and better feedback. I believe that hard work has paid off and we must not give up. I have never faced a challenge like the one I had to go through with Covid-19. It has only made me a stronger and better person. My goal is to run the best escape room in Atlanta and Miami beach, where people leave with a wonderful experience and recommend us to all their friends.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I think the best way is to hire a professional. I tried to do it by myself but the social media is more complicated then it looks. I posted every week one ore two pictures or posts. But that is not enough. You have to start campaigns with a detailed settings. The problems are starting that point. So if I can start over I would hire a professional. I lost a few months and a lot of time from myself.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Google advertise. It is the most powerful tool right now to get new clients. Especially in a new industry like the escape rooms. However really important to find a good team that make your google advertise campaigns. You can lost a lot of money if you not work with the good team.
