We were lucky to catch up with JASMINE OLIVER recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi JASMINE, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

So i really started taking my art seriously when covid hit. I had a lot of down time at work, so I started doodling here and there to pass the time. Once I completed a piece, I would hang them up in my at my work station. Patients and staff started to notice and encouraged me to sell my work. I doubted myself alot, but after many more compliments and encouragement from friends and family, I finally decided to pursue art professionally and make it my official side hustle

JASMINE, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m originally from Birmingham AL. I had to get out of the state of Alabama for my sanity, so I moved to Atlanta in 2019. I’m kind of an eclectic soul. I love being different and I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum when it comes to style, creativity, and artistic expression.

I opened my business, HippieDRIPSXO, in February 2022. February is my favorite month of the year, so the timing was perfect. My main focus is creating abstract surrealism art, that is in a Category of its own. All my creations are hand drawn which I take a lot of pride in. I amaze myself at times with some of the pieces I create. I think to myself alot saying; “what in the world was i thinking that made me draw this?” But I love drawing, I love art, and I love creativity.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I wish I knew more about art shows/events. I was in my first art show summer of 2022 and it changed my entire perspective of the art scene. I met a lot of other amazing artist which made my love for the art community grow even more. Plus meeting fellow art enthusiasts is a huge motivator to keep creating pieces that I think other people will love just as much as I do

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Art has essentially saved my life. Like many people today, I suffer from anxiety and depression. Drawing has been an amazing outlet and stress reliever for me. Not only do I enjoy creating art for others, but importantly, I enjoy it for myself. Thats the most rewarding aspect for me
