Alright, Melina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
At the beginning of starting Loteria con Melina & My Hustle Agency LLC, I wish I would of known my worth. Knowing my worth would of saved me so much time. Time is very important when you become an entrepreneur because that’s all you have. People would forget about our meetings, show up late, or not even show up at all, and I kept trying to reach out to them after. I quickly learned that I didn’t want to work with people that didn’t respect my time. So now anytime someone wants to schedule a meeting, they have to go through a process to get a meeting with me. Always value your time & worth.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Melina Marin, I am a 28 year old Latina business owner. Founder of Loteria con Melina & Co- Founder of My Hustle Agency LLC. Loteria con Melina is a pop-up event that showcases the beauty of the Hispanic Culture in Houston. We dance, we drink, we sing, and of course we play loteria. Local Vendors come out and display their merchandise and you can’t the miche and taco vendors. Loteria con Melina has become a project that I’m very proud to call my own and love when people enjoy it too. My Hustle Agency LLC is my Social Media Marketing Agency and I am the Event & Creative Director. MHA allows me to work other businesses in helping them achieve their Social Media goals. Getting to work with creative people makes me love what I do. and although it can be hard sometimes, I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met Diana when we were about 20 years old during college, and we were both working at Hooters. Shortly, after we graduated college we started in our careers. During that time, me and Diana were both very driven and decided to move in together in Montrose to help & motivate each other to do the best that we can. Years go by, and we stayed with the same mindset. At the time we were both working for people that we weren’t happy with any more, but we really enjoyed what we were doing. We put our minds back together and with of our career experiences, we created My Hustle Agency.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
At My Hustle Agency, we are very flexible and open for our clients. Although do set boundaries by having “office hours” we still continue to keep communication open for our clients. We understand that sometimes an emergency can occur and that’s why we give our email, and cell number for a better way to reach us.
