We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Doc STRANGE. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Doc below.
Alright, Doc thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
There is no artist in Hip Hop that makes a sole income from making music in the digital age.
Not. One.
You must have multiple income streams. Period. That is a true rule of upper mobility. EVERY independent success story in Hip Hop came from a strong initial investment and effective connections. So, let me share this in aIl sincerity.
I don’t make music to make money. I make music for the therapy. I make it to display mastery in something I love.
I run businesses. I own property. I manage stocks. That’s how I can afford to make any kind of music I want. That supplements my other financial movements. I would not do it any other way. It takes money to make money.

Doc, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Purity is all I know when it comes to music. I am pure Hip Hop. It is about being unique and profoundly interesting. I came from the pre internet. premillennial era. You had to be dope for real. I am from when being underground meant something. I am authentic and cold.
You deserve an expert. I am well versed in every approach and coastal contribution. I am the creative machine behind all my visuals. I am not an industry puppet. I make moving pictures, beats and rhymes to move the crowd.
I am proud to be independent, Black and beautiful. That energy will affect any listener in a positive fashion.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish the internet was always around, like, from the 80’s till now. It is the gamechanger. Anybody can touch the world now. There would be no independent business without the internet. You must understand it and master its power.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I do not have a gazillion followers. The friend’s/followers/fans I do have are real, though. I personally know 80% of the people on my social media. Real people can make real things happen for you. Relationships are the best currency. Cherish humans, and never lie or move with incompetence. Create a network of like-minded souls.
