Robert, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

I took the risk in pursuing a career as a photographer late 2020. There are so many photographers out there, I knew it was going to be challenging for me to get my name out there. One thing I kept telling myself is “You can do it.” As long as I keep believing in myself, I know I will have a good career and people will notice what I bring to the table.

Robert, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Robert. I am photographer located in north county San Diego. I enjoy doing a variety of different photography- portraits, maternity, engagement, family, automotive (especially lowriders) and more! Knowing I can help someone create meaningful memories is a great feeling. I would say that lowrider photography has became my favorite style of photography. The detail, the time, and effort put into a lowrider is crazy.

I have always been a shy person but with photography that totally changed. That is something I am super proud of because not only it has encouraged me to communicate with people but it has also helped me grow as a person.

One thing everyone should know about me is that I will do my best to make sure my clients get the best content they can get. I want them to know that they can come back again and keep receiving the same high quality work.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Social media has played a huge role of course, but recommendations from a previous client has definitely been the best source of new clients for me.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

To be honest, YouTube has been super helpful. There is so much information you can get. I am super grateful for everyone who has spent their time making informational videos.
