We recently connected with Justin & Tia Mason and have shared our conversation below.
Justin & Tia , appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Just-In Time was birthed in 2016 through God giving us “What to do” business-wise but withholding the “How to do it”. This is uniquely special because he called us to be the trailblazers and pioneers of our time. We were not allowed the luxury to call on fellow entrepreneurs for advice or take a peek at a well-executed business blueprint on how to effectively do things; instead, we were forced to trust AND believe the word that was given to us….START THE BUSINESS. We had to find out almost EVERYTHING on our own, from the cleaning side, auto detailing side, investments side, and even the business consulting side of things. It’s funny because this reminds us of the story of Noah and the arc he had to build. To our knowledge, there was not an arc built before Noah, he did not have the luxury of calling an architect to assist him with this boat…he had to trust God every step of the way; where to obtain the wood from, the exact measurements, where to accurately cut the wood, how hammer the pieces of wood to ensure the boat wouldn’t fall apart in the water, etc. After viewing things in that light, we have learned to have a deep appreciation for the many struggles we’ve faced. It shaped and molded us into who we are today. Our Mission is to make you see the Vision of the Just-In Time brand; this happens through providing people with opportunities that was not initially made available to us. We humbly invite you to take a peek of our spirit-led business blueprint.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Justin and Tia Mason are the founders of Just-In Time. Just-In Time is a brand that is made up of four companies – Just-In Time Cleaning Services, Just-In Time Auto Detailing, Just-In Time Investments, and its newest entity, Just-In Time Consulting. The cleaning entity of the company specializes in the cleanliness and maintenance of commercial locations, the detailing entity of the company is a full-service mobile automotive detailing company that specializes in bringing life and luster back to vehicles one car at a time, the investment entity of the company specializes in taking the houses that are deemed as “ugly” and “beautifying” them for the people we are led to sell them to, and last but not least – the consulting entity of the company provides business consultation services to new and existing business owners/entrepreneurs.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
As an entrepreneur, it is inevitable to bypass the tests and trials of starting a business (unless you’re perfect). We have faced some of the most gut-wrenching, humiliating, unimaginable things an up-and-coming entrepreneur can face. In 2017, there was a time in particular when we landed a larger client that required us to hire employees (due to the large lump sum of accounts that were given to us); we simply could not service all of the sites ourselves. After hiring these employees, we made the huge mistake of not having capital on hand to float the first few payrolls. The client paid out Net 30-45 terms, we only had about $2k in our business bank account, and we had to pay these employees on a bi-weekly basis; this was a dilemma within itself! Upon the first payroll with the new client, we issued the employees their checks with good intentions, knowing that we at least had the first payroll covered….YEAH RIGHT! There were debits deducted from the account to cover our business expenses that we did not account for, when it was time for the employees to cash their checks…the checks came back as NSF (non-sufficient funds) and the employees were not paid! When the angry phone calls came in, we felt the lowest of the low, we never intended for our employees not to get paid, we tried our best to explain the situation with the upmost integrity, however; no words would suffice. I remember looking up to heaven, with tears streaming down my face, asking God “Why”? We followed his directions when he told us to get the business started, we thought we were doing everything right, however he let us know a while later that “Every trial and challenge we faced, it was not for us, it was for us to tell our story and help other entrepreneurs avoid some of the bumps we faced in the road. Our “un-success’s” would lead to someone’s “success”. This is one of the many reasons why Just-In Time Consultants had to be birthed.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Just-In Time tries to remain in touch with our past (and future clientele) through branding our integrity. There are thousands of commercial cleaners, auto detailers, investors, and business consultants…however; there’s only one Justin and Tia Mason, and we try to give our very best effort in whatever we do. The image of your business and brand is one of the most important characteristics of your company. If you want your company to have a lifeline of its own, we recommend first lifting it up to God (he’s the one who gave you the business mindset in the first place, whether you admit it or not), then you must be fully committed to it. Your company must take over your entire personality – COMPLETE UTTER OBSESSION! One of the most factual statements we tell our clients who consult with us is: “It may not be selling out YET, it may not have many clients YET, but you must personally believe that if you treat your business like a million-dollar company, others will eventually do the same”. We’ve watched and learned that if you treat your brand/business like a side hustle, it’s always going to be just that; nothing more, nothing less. Consistency is key, even when no one else believes it. You may not have a huge following yet, but if you remain consistent, your dedication will show people just how much passion you have for it… they will have no choice but to care also – EVERY LITTLE DETAIL MATTERS WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR BRAND!
