We were lucky to catch up with Greta Buccellato recently and have shared our conversation below.
Greta , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
People always say “What even is that?” when I try to tell them what I do. My company Coded Connections started out as just seeking to connect in a deeper and more meaningful way with my guests at the venue I was working at. I was trying to spark that simple bliss that’s had from nourishment and maybe something fortifying to wash it all down. It’s definitely a universal language. I’m just trying to tailor those experiences with AR technology. I started with basic bar codes landing on a webpage I designed for each drink, it had a recipe, a pic or a video etc. I graduated soon after that to actual AR as the garnish when I found some awesome developers to work with, Coded Connections has expanded from making individual gifts into the event market with AR prototypes on other mediums. It’s really exciting.
This last year has brought so many awesome opportunities with it, We are also expanding to include giving something back. We realize this technology has such an amazing potential for generating awareness with its sharability. we want to give back to the community with its profitability as well. Prototypes are in the wings whose primary mission is just that. Autism is our first, due out later this year.
If you would like to nominate a charity or fundraiser for consideration you can submit it on the website.
Greta , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The team at Coded Connections and I create augmented reality experiences for the event and hospitality industry. We find creative solutions not only for entertainment, but also personal and corporate branding. A token of augmented reality, as large or as small as you can imagine, one that you can keep and access forever. This patent pending technology is easy to share and requires no download to access. It’s such a simple awesome thing. Give us a call or shoot a message and we can chat about what we can make for you or your event.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
When I first started out with this idea, I was really excited to get a prototype out there for people to see. So I started personally emailing and messaging top influencers Atlanta for drinks and snacks at the bar I worked at. I made a special cocktail menu to showcase each AR token, and then I waited for a response. It was hard being patient while waiting but I received a reply from the amazing influencer OhNikka who was so kind about my unconventional approach. She and her husband came out on a Friday, so I was working double to take care of bar guests as well as this cool blogger who was my personal guest. She posted about it and I was so proud. It was scary putting myself out there and reaching out like that to total strangers, but it paid off because she connected me to the Drawbar at the Bellyard Hotel, and Coded Connections first appearance on a legit bar menu in Atlanta.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Usually just someone seeing my Coded Connections product in action is the best way to meet new people for me. Or word of mouth from people who have seen it. I think if I can get the product in front of someone I can create a new client. It’s potential is virtually endless, and it can mean something different for everyone and every event. It can be 20 ft tall or 2 inches small, It’s nothing but open opportunities. Although sometimes it can be a challenge to fully realize someone else’s vision when there are so many options available.
