We recently connected with Tatiana Chamorro and have shared our conversation below.
Tatiana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Most of the decisions my husband and I have made as business owners, professionals, or even humans, are risky. In 2014 after w sold our car, our only possession at the time, we decided to use the money and move to Texas from Nicaragua, for 1 year, to pursue his M.B.A. Talk about risk. Back then we had a 2-year-old boy, and we had never experienced living on our own as new parents. We had no idea what we were doing, but the one thing with risk is you have to take on EVERY opportunity along the way. And that’s what we did. We took absolutely every networking, volunteer, scholarship, or event opportunity and showed up. This turned out to be completing his M.B.A. debt free, but also for me to continue and complete an undergraduate degree and a master’s later on. In 2016, we then decided to begin investing in real estate, at this time we were beginning with a small family investment and taking the risk of losing or growing our family’s savings. We did research and invested in Texas, primarily in a town called Commerce, and started renting to students. We increase the valuation of the homes by re-investing in them, and with appreciation, were able to sell our single-family portfolio in Commerce and Dallas with a 2x return; taking the opportunity to then move into larger investments including apartment complexes. Lastly, in 2020, 1 month into the pandemic and after completing my master’s in marketing, I took the leap of starting my own marketing agency. Just 6 months in, we were on our way to closing our first year at 100k in revenue, that’s when we took the leap of using our savings to merge into the first-ever, digital marketing franchise, Hite International, and building their division of creative. This could’ve been a disaster as a franchise model in digital marketing has never been done before, but I was confident and with a lot of fear we did it. Today, 3 years later, Hite international has over 200 employees and has now grown to 25 locations in the USA, it also became an INC 5000 company, and my franchise, Hite Dallas, is on it’s way to completing year 3 with 500k in revenue. Risk is an amazing, scary part of our journey, it hasn’t always been this great, I’ve also lost in investments that we thought could have a good return, but the most important part was that we learned, and we then applied those learnings into the next risk.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I grew up in a conservative Hispanic home, which meant there was a preconceived notion of addressing elders and communicating with them, even when they may be wrong. However, becoming a Latina business owner who usually looks younger than her age, I had to learn how to create healthy boundaries of respect with my clients and other business people. This meant, I had to learn to manage uncomfortable conversations or situations that put me in an uncomfortable place, I had to learn to create healthy boundaries with my clients and other business owners, and I learned to be okay to be picky of who I work with so I could protect my mental health and my team.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
I believe multiple revenue streams are one of the main components of building stability, and this goes for managing and building personal wealth as well. My marketing agency offers an array of services, we like to look at marketing strategy from a holistic approach because this gives the customer a better understanding of why and how we approach things. There are some questions we ask our clients to determine where they should start or with what service to begin, such as revenue goals, profit margin per service etc. If we did not have multiple services we would not be able to be more transparent and true in marketing strategy, this way we are able to offer anything from logos, websites, branding, to even SEO, Google Ads, FB Ads, and stay true to a strategy that understands their needs, not just our want to sell
