We were lucky to catch up with Cherline Previlon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cherline, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always thought I’d become a nurse. According to my mother along with most Haitian parents, the hierarchy of all careers in a Haitian household is Nursing. As a result, I ended up going to nursing school. Ultimately that decision made me realize that Nursing was not for me. So, then I began to think of what I would want see myself doing that would satisfy MY happiness. I had a friend in high school who would always say “vou should work at a dental office because you have an obsession with teeth”. I would just laugh it off. My mind at the time was dead set on becoming a Nurse. I never even imagined going into the dental profession, but my friend was right. I do have an obsession with my teeth. I love everything about keeping an immaculate smile and maintaining good oral hygiene. After experiencing such trial in determining my career move, I had finally decided to attend dental school. I graduated in a year and immediately began to thirst for more. I wanted to create a way to keep a smile on people’s faces and to build confidence with their smile. I wanted others to feel as great as I do about my smile. People would always ask me if I ever wore braces and how I kept my teeth so white. I would always say it’s my genetics and good oral health. I took a big jump and decided I wanted to start my own business. In the midst of Undergoing a major surgery, I decided I would do my research and get the ball rolling. As I recovered, I had an ample amount of time to do configure the pros and cons and the things I would need. I was on bed rest, barely able to walk on my own, and yet I was ordering items as each day go by. I had a plan, and I just needed the platform. I knew so much information with my dental job and I wanted to expand my knowledge and start my own teeth whitening business. I was able to operate a business outside a dental office, so I was even more elated. I never envisioned this for myself. As my passion grew, the more self-assured I became. To me, first impressions is key when you enter new environments and meet new people. With a perfect smile, you can gain confidence as big as the sky. I wanted my teeth whitening business to make people not only look good but also feel good. I remember spending months looking for a location and suite to start my business. Unbeknownst to my family, I continued to order items for my office as well. The day I found a suite, to say I was happy was an understatement. The journey went uphill from there. I had finally decided on what I wanted to do for myself. At a young age, I accomplished so much. I had a vision and sought after it. I now share time with growing my teeth whitening business alongside working at a dental office.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I offer teeth whitening services that help your teeth look lighter. I frequently work with customers who smoke heavily or consume a lot of tea or coffee. My product has numerous confidence-boosting benefits. The things that makes me most proud of what I do is seeing how content my patients are after leaving my chair. Since dental work is so expensive, it can mean a lot If I can help someone. In the near future I’ll also be providing self whitening kits so clients can you at home
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is very tricky and sometimes it can be confusing if not used properly. Your target audience is everything and it’s to them that you must market. Making your page presentable, using hashtags under new post, and posting consistently can all help you have more interactions on your page. It’s all about consistency and content. Always being able to open up to people and not having a problem talking to others contributes as all.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is reposting my company on my main page or simply when people repost my page on theirs. You never know who is watching or when someone will book, so advertise your business constantly. I always receive word-of- mouth clients. Never be afraid to tell people about your business when you’re out and about. Expand
