We recently connected with Chauntel Vital and have shared our conversation below.
Chauntel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I would have not started it sooner, now was the right timing for me, I was fresh out of high school when I moved to Texas, I needed time to figure out and discover what my creativity was, I needed to learn and make mistakes and figure out what I had a passion for. I got out of my comfort zone and took the steps to go to cosmetology school and figured out that wasn’t for me, I went to school for nursing and realized that wasn’t for me as well. I started modeling in 2019 when a friend of mine shared with me that an agency is looking for models and so I shot my shot and discovered that I had love for modeling. Life wise I was a student just working on my basics also trying to discover what I wanted a degree in. If I would have started modeling sooner back in California, I believe starting sooner it would have been a little more difficult for me, I lived 40 mins away from LA and didn’t have the transportation to get there and just due to the fact that LA is a competitive city. If I would have started sooner, I believe I wouldn’t have had that many opportunities as I do now live in Texas.

Chauntel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in a small little town called Lancaster, California also known as ” The Antelope Valley.” I come from a family of 6 and I am the 2nd youngest. After high school at the age of 18 I always knew deep down in my heart that Texas was always going to be home. My first visit to Texas was at the age of 9 when I lived on campus at Texas A&M with my dad because he was a ROTC teacher at the time and sure enough after graduating high school my sister and I packed our bags and said Goodbye California and Hello Texas. Fast forward to 2019 my friend DM’D me that an agency was looking for upcoming models, at that time in my life modeling never crossed my mind but back home in California I always loved art and the creative people and wanted to be a part of that, so when my friend sent me the application I was confident enough in myself and said why not let’s give it a shot, and I’m glad that I did because this is just the beginning. What sets me apart is that I am an influential inspirational leader. I have a heart too serve and a heart for people and you will get that experience when crossing paths with me. Let’s be great together. I don’t care who likes me or not I don’t see competition, cause when I look in the mirror, I know I’m different.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
A particular goal of mine this year is to be more consistent on posting more and showing my audience more lifestyle content to get a glimpse of my life. I tend to draw away from social media from time to time just due to the fact that I don’t want to get sucked into social media. now I know what you’re thinking but you’re a model you have to post and be consistent, I understand but I also am a firm believer on detoxing from social media from time to time because it can be a lot and it can get discouraging on social media when it comes to comparison.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The story to how I built my audience is by networking that is the secret. I love modeling so I joined a Facebook group of photographers and models and networked from there and shot with different photographers who have different styles, I enjoy walking in fashion shows so I would go on Eventbrite and search for fashion shows whether I’m walking in one or just attending or sometimes I even search on Instagram for fashion shows. It’s about putting yourself out there and not being afraid to take that leap of faith and getting out of your comfort zone, you’ll never know who you are going to cross paths, exchange social medias, go to more networking events, follow people on your social media that have similar interests as you and reach out. My advice to anyone that is starting to build their social media presence is to stay consistent on posting and telling a story on your Instagram feed, from color, to motivation, and tips.
