Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tafarai Francis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tafarai, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Some of the most meaningful projects for me has definitely been my solo projects. I have been apart of a band/musical group for over 15 years and have played all over the Caribbean and Mainland. Due to the pandemic, a lot of the gigging slowed down and i was able to explore and create a different lane for myself doing covers, and creating original melodies and structures for music. By exploring this different avenue, I was able to create my first solo album “A Christmas Vibe” which i can count on to be in rotation every Christmas. I’m currently set to release my second solo project entitled “Yours Truly” for Valentines Day which will include some classic r&b love songs from the 90s. These projects mean a lot to me because you rarely see instrumentalist venturing out and being a creative on their own especially in the Virgin Islands where I’m from. Its truly a blessing!

Tafarai, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tafarai Francis, stage name Tafarai. I’m from the Virgin Islands and I’ve been playing music for over 15 years. The work i provide are music selections and renditions for weddings, funerals, parties, festivals, parades, etc
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve built a social media audience covering popular songs and implementing them into my style of playing. Its a different sound as well as a different approach so it was easily accepted by the masses. Any advice i would give to anyone starting up, is be yourself, be original, and do things your way.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To best support a creative like my self in this society, I think society can appreciate talent and originality a little more, i think government agencies can support artists that are bringing eyes to their territory a little more as well
